I don’t understand only one network banning him. Why not all networks or no networks if it is an FCC thing?
Because no one knows what they are talking about- Adam is still scheduled on 2 other ABC shows- but the ‘live’ performances on the other two shows were cx. Guess who loses,it’s not Adam Lambert, it’s ABC. They are their own enemy.
Can’t be FCC. They do not regulate after 10pm and they haven’t prevented other stations from carrying Adam. There is something very suspicious going on here.

I am confused why everyone keeps using phrases like “it’s getting weird” or “creepy” with regards to ABC’s reactions. It’s not weird. ABC is upset that Adam did not deliver what he did in rehearsal and caused such controversy. It is blogs like these that have prevented them from further immersing themselves in this nonsense. Bad press. So everyone here is making it worse by making it a subject too hot and too controversial to deal with anymore. It always happens when the public goes nuts about something. It is actually these types of reactions that affect these decisions. I am an Adam fan but had a tough time being impressed by the AMA performance. It was uncalled for on network television and the vocals were not that good for him. If he had spent more time on the vocals and less on shock and awe he would be better off right now.
Because he screwed one network, not all of them. ABC gets to decide who and what to put on their network, and they don’t want to put someone like lambert on who can get them fined. Simple as that.
It’s not odd that ABC first, announces and/or books the Kimmel gig after the AMA’s, advertises it, gives out tix, and then the plug?
This has nothing to do with his being gay. Everybody needs to stop spinning it to make it seems like it is. Its because of what he DID and the FCC. And his total disrespect for ABC, the viewing audience and those in the audience. Now HE wants respect? Ha! I loved what puke said “Do you let people back into your house after they crap on your rug?”. That says it all right there. Its really sad that Adam believed all his own hype. He felt like he could do whatever he wanted. Like he was some big “superstar” already. Guess what? This is reality. Hes not as important as he thought he was.

Sorry Shelby, yes they do..in the Central Time Zone the show aired 7 – 10 pm. within the times the FCC monitors.
And Adam said it himself when he twittered about the cancellations..he said don’t blame ABC, its the heat from the FCC. But of course his fans won’t listen to what Adam says, of course they are blaming ABC.
Kimmel is on later so this isn’t FCC. It is a crime against freedom of artistic expression though. ABC is turning into Beijing

tHE fcc hasn’t officially said anything about it yet… We don’t know what ABC told Adam Lambert, he might have just made the assumtion, though his tweet did imply it wasn’t all about ABC.

@diane – “sticking to your guns”?? When did ABC announce that they were going to ban Adam? The excuse they used for taking him off the GMA schedule was that it was a morning show. What possible excuse could they have for removing him from a late night show (Kimmel) AND from a New Year’s Eve show – a whole MONTH after his “offensive” AMA performance?? All ABC is doing is prolonging the controversy – and garnering BAD publicity for ABC! Adam will survive! Other networks are more than happy to pick him up when he becomes available. But ABC is making themselves look like total MORONS! The whole rest of the world is laughing at ABC!

What surprises me more is that people like Jimmy Kimmel allow ABC to make these decisions for them. Adam’s performance wasn’t worse than what Kimmel aired with that whole “I’m f*cking Ben Afflek” video. Get real – Kimmel is a late night show and not monitored by the FCC – Adam could perform nude and nobody would care.

Most of America could care less about Adam and whether or not ABC continues to “blacklist” him. Adam fanatics can boycott (or blacklist) ABC all they want. The other 99.99% of ABC viewers will probably still tune in.

ABC needs to get the F over themselves. They aren’t hurting anyone but themselves. Lambert is a rating bonanza and the more they blackball him the more interesting they make him when other networks pick him up. The interesting thing is they let him tape the Barbara Walters special and will likely air that for ratings.
They act like he killed someone on their network instead of performed a risque music performance. The “punishment” doesn’t really fit the “crime” IMO.

I don’t know what you think it proves to say that the last portion of the AMAs were the lowest rated. The show was long and VERY boring! The only reason most of the viewers who were left were still watching the end was to see Adam – who ABC had been promoting all week, and begging people to stay tuned thoughtout the show! And, Adam’s performance took place during the same time slot as Brothers & Sisters would’ve been on – so a male/male kiss at that time was pretty normal for that time slot. What is their big objection to Adam?? ABC is just looking NUTS at this point!

I don’t believe that Lambert should get a pass on his tasteless, stupid behavior just because he is gay. As someone with many gay friends and relatives, I believe that this type of stereotypical offensive behavior sets back the progress toward acceptance that has been hard fought. I have no wish to see him on any show.

Adam Lambert has opened more minds and hearts than two decades of preaching and sermons. Don’t give Adam credit for something YOU did, but Don’t blame Adam for something you did. We are ultimately creating our own realities. I don’t give a rat’s A for Lambert, but his CD is fantastic .he is friggin talented & cancelling his performance cheats us- when the rap artists and Shakira can do what they please without a wimper.
Again, even though the AMA performance upset me as did others I am still an Adam Fan. But, Sam thanks for saying this! This was behavior that would only add to homophobia and did not help to progress acceptance in any way. I too have multiple gay friends and this was offensive and did not belong on ABC. Maybe a concert or a concert televised on HBO or Showtime would have been ok but not on network television. Plus, it was a bad career choice as well.

Unless you are a Neilsen Family (which determines television ratings), ABC has no idea if you tune in or not anyway. The only one you are punishing is yourself by missing shows you obviously like.

The behavior was not stereotypical and straight performers have overt displays of sexuality as well.
Did Carrie Underwood, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Shakira or any of the other “straight” performers grab someones face and shove it in their crotch? If they did, I totally missed it. What those performers did doesn’t even compare to the trash Adam did.

Agreed! Gaga’s performance was edgy and risky but still not offensive. I loved her performance and expected to love Adam as a huge fan but I was seriously disappointed. He should have put the energy into delivering superior vocals not shock and awe.
@MK – First, I’ve already discussed the Pink performance in regards to another post. Secondly, Yes, ABC may have known about 99% of what Adam was going to do. It’s the 1% “improv” they didn’t know about that is the problem. That 1% ended up overshadowing everything else he did. Even the awful vocals that night. Hardly anyone talks about that. It seems to me that for every person that is upset with ABC, there seems to be about 10 that are happy. There’s probably even more that just doesn’t care at all.
I think this is taking it too far. This is sad Adam is Not the worse thing on TV so so treating him like he is.
