American Idol judge Simon Cowell wants to bring his other singing competition show, Britain’s “The X-Factor,” to Las Vegas and set it up as permanent attraction, according to published reports. In an interview with British GQ, Cowell says he’s teaming with billionaire Philip Green on the plan, which calls for a new version of “The X-Factor” to establish residency at a Vegas casino and hold two competitions a week. The shows would be made available to the world via pay-per-view on the internet. The British iteration of the show is best known for launching the career of Leona Lewis.

No no no no no no don’t let him do it.
Totally agree, all similarities to AI/PI, whatever…. this will oversaturate the market for musical competition reality shows… at least here imho… but since it probably costs so little to put a show like this on compared to a good comedy or drama, I’m sure this is seriously being looked at…. much to our chagrin….
Notice, the words “best known for launching Leona Lewis” and THAT’S ALL it’s launched.
Oh, I forgot about Susan, but she’ll be gone with the wind after this CD.
Susan Boyle was on Britain’s Got Talent, not X-Factor.
It’s still SIMON COWELL productions.
Why would anyone pay to watch a show that basically amounts to an American Idol rip-off, when they can watch the real fake singers on TV for free?
Please educate yourselves. ‘American Idol’ is a “rip-off” of ‘Pop Idol’ which was the original British singing competition before Cowell created ‘X-Factor’.
Regardless of whether it’s a rip-off of American Idol, or Pop Idol or whatever, it’s all still so similar that there is no need for yet another singing competition. Especially one you’d have to pay to watch.
doesn’t he have enough money by now??
Dumb dee dumb dumb duuuuumb.
It dilutes the American Idol show, and gluts the market.
The failed revival of Star Search showed that one AI is more than enough.
At least AGT has more than just singing.
Simon needs to just keep his $20+ million payday from AI, and his XFactor and BGT pay days over there, and stop trying to overkill the audience.
This is about as good of an idea as the XFL was.
