Scriptwriter and former Amazing Race contestant Mike White is set to pen the script for comedy Santa Wars, according to Variety. The movie, which is based off a segment from Ira Glass’ public radio show This American Life, is set to be based on an uprising within a union of professional Santa Clauses, eventually resulting in arch enemy factions that war during a Santa Claus civil war. Scott Rudin, who White worked with on School of Rock and Orange County, is producing.

'Jane Eyre' casting update
Mia Wasikowska and Michael Fassbender are in talks to star in a new adaptation of the Charlotte Bronte novel Jane Eyre as Jane and Mr. Rochester, reports Variety. Wasikowska will appear as Alice in Tim Burton’s upcoming version of Alice in Wonderland starring Johnny Depp. And Fassbender most recently appeared in Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds. The project, set to be directed by Cary Fukunaga (Sin Nombre) will start filming next year.
DreamWorks plans TV series based on Stephen King's 'Under the Dome'
Steven Spielberg and Stephen King are joining forces, Variety reports. DreamWorks TV has optioned King’s new supernatural thriller Under the Dome and is eyeing an adaptation as an event series, most likely for cable TV. DreamWorks’ Stacey Snider and Spielberg will executive produce with King, as well as DreamWorks TV heads Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey. The story is about a small town in Maine whose citizens are trapped by an invisible force field. DreamWorks is starting talks with writers for the project.

Project Runway host Heidi Klum made a surprise trip down the runway Thursday night, People reports. At the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, which she was hosting, Klum drew cheers from the audience with her surprise stroll down the runway in a corset and full skirt. The supermodel gave birth to daughter Lou on Oct. 9.
Uma Thurman to star with Robert Pattinson in 'Bel Ami'
Robert Pattinson has a new co-star: Uma Thurman. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Thurman has joined the Twilight star in the film adaptation of Guy de Maupassant’s short story Bel Ami. Kristin Scott Thomas has also joined the cast. Pattinson plays a young journalist who sleeps his way to the top in Parisian society. Thurman plays his friend’s wife who helps him and later becomes his wife. Thomas plays a socialite who becomes clingy with the journalist. Declan Donnellan will direct the film, which is set to shoot in 2010 in Paris.
Brad Pitt's Plan B buys rights to video game 'Dark Void'; actor may star
Brad Pitt and his Plan B production company have partnered with Indian media conglomerate Reliance Big Pictures to buy the movie rights to Capcom’s video game Dark Void, which is set to debut in January. The rights are being set up as a potential franchise and starring role for Pitt, reports Variety. Dark Void centers on a pilot who crash lands in the Bermuda Triangle only to find himself in an alternate universe resembling a primitive earth where aliens with superior technology are planning to take over civilization.
James Caan files, again, for divorce from wife Linda
Actor James Caan has filed for divorce from his wife of fourteen years, claiming irreconcilable differences, according to the Associated Press. It is the second time he has sought a divorce from Linda Caan, whom he married in 1995; the first filing, in 2005, was not pursued. The couple has two sons.
James Van Der Beek files for divorce
According to the Associated Press, Dawson’s Creek star James Van Der Beek has filed for divorce from Heather McComb, his wife of nearly six years. The couple has no children.
Chris Brown gets 'favorable' report at probation hearing
A Los Angeles judge said Thursday that Chris Brown has received “an extremely favorable” report in his probation, People reports. Brown has finished more than 100 hours of community labor (he was sentenced to 1400 hours in August) so far and has attended seven domestic violence counseling sessions. His next progress hearing is scheduled for Feb. 18.
