Stephenie Meyer talks 'New Moon' with Oprah on Friday

Twilight author Stephenie Meyer will appear on The Oprah Winfrey Show on Friday for what she says will be her only interview tied to the film release of New Moon. Meyer wrote on her blog, “I am so pleased and amazed and thrilled with what Chris Weitz has done with New Moon that I want to talk about it, and to show my support for him. And since I’m only doing one interview, better make it big. Really big.” She also writes that the questions she’s planning of fielding on the show are “designed for a broader audience than just die-hard Twilight fans.”

E! announces new series 'Bank of Hollywood'

E! Entertainment Television announced today that it has greenlit Bank of Hollywood, a new Ryan Seacrest-produced, one-hour reality competition. The series will feature everyday people petitioning for money in front of of an audience and a panel of celebrity judges, including Candy Spelling and Pussycat Doll Melody Thornton. The eight-episode series begins airing Dec. 14 at 10pm.

Report: Ashlee Simpson bound for Broadway's 'Chicago'

Ashlee Simpson, who was recently ousted from Melrose Place, will be playing Roxie Hart in the Broadway production of Chicago, according to the blog Gossip Cop. A publicist for the production would not confirm the casting, nor would Simpson’s reps, who declined to comment. Simpson previously played the role in a London staging of the musical.

Kenny Chesney 3-D concert film in theaters in 2010

Kenny Chesney may not be hitting the road in 2010, but he will be hitting theaters in Summer in 3-D. The concert film, shot during last summer’s tour, will play select screens in April. In addition to the stadium shows, fans will also see more intimate performances: “We did a 35-minute show with all the tailgaters, right on the water,” Chesney tells USA Today of his Pittsburgh stop. “Unless you’re down there, nobody gets to see that.”

Chesney broke the news that he wouldn’t be touring in summer 2010 to EW in September. He’ll make a small screen appearance on Wednesday, when he performs “I’m Alive” with Dave Matthews at the 43rd Annual CMA Awards on ABC.

Wanda Sykes talk show outpaces 'MADtv'

Though final numbers will not be available until later this week, The Wanda Sykes Show, which debuted Saturday night on Fox, was up 16 percent from MADtv‘s fourth-quarter average in 2008, according to preliminary Nielsen numbers. The show’s 2.2 household rating doubled Spike Feresten’s effort for the network, Variety reports.

'Curb Your Enthusiasm' rerun rights go to TV Land, TV Guide Network

TV Land and TV Guide Network announced via press release that they have jointly won the basic cable rights to Curb Your Enthusiasm. Reruns of Larry David’s comedy series will air on TV Guide Network beginning in Feb. 2010, followed by a run on TV Land. Season 7 of Curb Your Enthusiasm is currently airing on HBO.

David Fincher back with 'Seven' writer for new flick

Director David Fincher is teaming back up with Seven writer Andrew Kevin Walker for The Reincarnation of Peter Proud, according to The Hollywood Reporter. As with 1995′s Seven, Fincher will direct and Walker will pen the script. The Reincarnation of Peter Proud is described as a supernatural thriller based on a Max Ehrlich novel, which was previously filmed in 1975.

Jake Gyllenhaal eyes sci-fi thriller

Jake Gyllenhaal is in talks to star in Source Code, Variety reports. He would play a soldier who must investigate a train bombing by repeatedly reliving the experience in the body of one of its victims. Duncan Jones (Moon) is set to direct.

Dennis Hopper speaks about cancer treatment

Actor Dennis Hopper, who revealed last week that he has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, attended this weekend’s Breeders’ Cup horse race and spoke about the experimental treatment he’s been receiving at the University of Southern California. “It has great promise,” he told the Associated Press. “Everything’s good right now.” Hopper, 73, also revealed that he’s actually been battling the disease for nine years.

Dierks Bentley's connection to the Ft. Hood hero

People magazine spoke to country star Dierks Bentley about his connection to Kimberly Munley, the police officer who helped end the Thursday massacre at the Ft. Hood Army base. In the widely-circulating photograph of Munley from her Twitter page, Bentley is standing next to her: He’d stopped for a shot with her after a concert last July. He called Munley on Friday. “I said I was honored to have my picture with her and that my band and I were all thinking of her and praying for the folks on the base. I told her, ‘We are all just really thankful to you,’ ” said Bentley.
