David Hasselhoff 'totally fine' after weekend hospitalization, attorney says

David Hasselhoff is at home after being hospitalized for part of Thanksgiving weekend, a representative for the actor and America’s Got Talent judge tells EW. Hasselhoff was released Nov. 29 after spending a day and a half being treated for an undisclosed medical condition which did not involve alcohol. “David is totally fine and home with his kids,” his attorney told Access Hollywood.

Chelsea Clinton engaged to longtime boyfriend

Former first daughter Chelsea Clinton is engaged to her longtime boyfriend, banker Marc Mezvinsky, People reports. The couple reportedly announced their decision to friends and family the day after Thanksgiving. Mezvinsky’s parents are former U.S. congressional representatives Ed Mezvinsky and Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky, while Clinton’s parents are former President Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Barry Sonnenfeld to direct 'Funny in Farsi' pilot

Barry Sonnenfeld will direct and executive produce the ABC comedy pilot Funny in Farsi, an adaptation of Firoozeh Dumas’ memoir about a family of Iranian immigrants in Newport Beach, Calif. in the 1970s. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sonnenfeld is also expected to direct and exec produce another pilot for the Alphabet as part of his recent two-year first-look deal with the network and ABC Studios.

Aunjanue Ellis named as Gregory Itzin's 'Mentalist' replacement

'This Is It' DVD release set for Jan. 26

The Michael Jackson concert documentary This Is It will be released on DVD and Blu-ray Jan. 26, Sony Pictures announced today. According to the Hollywood Reporter, “the DVD and high-def versions… will include several mini-docs and other special features. Blu-ray Discs also will include two versions each of the Jackson music videos ‘Smooth Criminal’ and ‘Thriller.’”

Paramount snags followup from 'Paranormal Activity' director

U.S. distribution rights for Paranormal Activity director Oren Peli’s next film have gone to Paramount Pictures, Variety reports. Area 51 is an aliens-related film using the same “found footage” format as Paranormal Activity, though it had a higher budget due to that film’s success. Shooting finished in early November, with a 2010 release expected.

Matthew McConaughey, Fox plan animated sitcom about actor's brother

Matthew McConaughey and Fox are developing an animated sitcom, Rooster Tales, about the actor’s brother, Variety reports. The life of Mike “Rooster” McConaughey inspired the idea of a cartoon show about a Southern sheriff married to a younger woman from Mexico. A script is currently being written.

Reese Witherspoon's rep denies reports that the actress and Jake Gyllenhaal have split

A spokeswoman for Reese Witherspoon has told EW that a story which broke earlier today about the star having split with boyfriend Jake Gyllenhaal is “false.”  The two actors first started dating after they were both cast in the 2007 film Rendition.

Swiss security experts prepare Roman Polanski's chalet for the director's house arrest

Security experts in Switzerland have begun to prepare Roman Polanski’s chalet in the Alps for the Chinatown director’s house arrest, which may begin as soon as Monday, the Associated Press is reporting. Polanski has been in Swiss custody for the past two months while authorities there consider extraditing him to the U.S. The director fled America in 1978 after pleading guilty to a charge of unlawful sexual intercourse.

UPDATE: Reuters reports that the French envoy preparing the house say Polanski might not be released for a few days.

'Pulp Fiction' writer Roger Avary jailed

Roger Avary, who won an Oscar for co-writing Pulp Fiction with Quentin Tarantino, has been removed from a work furlough program and locked up in a California jail, according to the Associated Press. But Ventura County sheriff’s spokesman Capt. Ross Bonfiglio denied reports that Avary’s alleged tweeting was the main reason for him being removed from the work furlough program. In September, Avary was sentenced to a year in jail and five years probation after pleading guilty to vehicular manslaughter for a drunken driving car crashed that killed a passenger and injured Avary’s wife.
