By the time Adam came on it was almost 11:00 pm, I would call that lat night not prime time. Also The Award show is an Adult show that most kids wouldn’t want to see any way. The one’s that would be teen’s and are not the little angel’s you think they are. Children should have been in bed asleep long before Adam came on. I enjoyed Adam’s preformance and the people who didn’t should have either turned the channel or turned off the television and went to bed. Get over it already….
Sorry to disagree with you, but it’s not about just the children, it’s about a tasteless, offensive act to even some adults, how are you tu change the channel when you’re not expecting such actions? You make no sense in trying to justify a vulgar act that in my book seem more like sexual harassment to his players, unless it was all planned before and failed to warn the viewers about it. I mean, it that was consensual, it makes perfect sense they had it all planned. I am sure the network knew about it, but are playing it alone trying to stay out of whatever consequences it may bring.
That whole stunt on the AMA will send him into super star status. This is what he wants, controversy, because either side, for or against, will watch him to see what he does next. This is no suprise, really.
Personally, I thought it was a bad skit, it was dark and wicked, misleading concerning the gay community, not all gay people are into leather and s and m.
He is just playing into the “sex sells” only he is gay, so he gives it a gay twist so to speak.
The fact is, gay or straight, America is consumed with sexual matters, we thrive on it, and seek the ultimate orgasm, yet we miss out on intimacy, so we seek a cheap substitute, the Entertainment Industry.
kudos Jessica, we are seriously starting to lack intimacy and teaching our new generation that sex is just a commodity that you can have when you pay or watch it you have the bucks or a pc…pretty sad…
Who cares if he is a peter puffer or not….But it should be behind closed doors,to each there own…
dodacrazy I completely agree with you, besides I don’t think some people here realized that this is not just about a kiss, but the way it was done and on top the oral sx simulation, very poor taste, not artistic at all. If it was done in an more classy and not as vulgar, maybe it wouldn’t have been so upsetting to some. Even though it was offensive for some people there is no denying that.
A lot of comments to wade through…I was very interested in seeing Adam’s performance but I was truly disappointed. It has nothing to do with kisses or the rest but it simply was not good. He had a chance to wow the American audience and he didn’t. Except for a few of his diehard fans, which I completely understand. But let’s face he has done much better. But he did get what he wanted…press just before his album came out..”crazy maybe but not stupid”!
Oh and I think just like in this case people were not happy with the likes of Madonna or Britney with their displays either..he just happen to get the most press about it…again “not crazy..very smart!”
“LEGAL” issues? Really? So, CBS actually cares if the uber-right-wing nutjobs at the American Family Association try to sue them? Seriously? Can we stop the American apartheid already?
Hey Slezak,
I think you need to cover One Life to Live. Their “gay love” plot line is great – no stereotypes, no eyeliner and finger nail polish (I’m taking to you Adam Lambert), just regular guys (a cop and a doctor) in love. One Life to Live is doing more for the gay community than any over the top, contrived performance by Adam Lambert.
FYI, I’m going to keep posting this until you actually do an article on OLTL
Let’s face it. CBS response that they aired the Madonna clip because it’s been well disseminated by the media already is LAME. The only way that gay men can become accepted is by having their fair share of publicity … same as the women. And, let’s also face the fact that CBS knew that having Mr Lambert on their show – after others passed – and blurring parts of his performance would grab headlines and maybe catapult them out of their distant-third Nielsen ratings.
Here’s the game … CBS exploited the situation to try to catapult their always-in-last-place morning show in to possible contention by blurring the performance of a gay male performer who is selling cd’s right now.
This is just the typically asinine decision that CBS News executives constantly make … right thinking (trying to boost ratings), but such ass-backwards execution that it ultimately makes them look terrible (see THE INSIDER for further confirmation).
As for Mr Lambert and the gay community, well … when CBS states that the reason they show a woman kissing a woman but blur a man kissing a man is that one image has been disseminated through the media and one has not, well then Mr. Lambert and the gay community is right. But CBS no doubt gambled on that they would get 2 days worth of headlines by 1- having Mr Lambert on when everyone else passed, and 2- eviscerating him by blurring his performance. They – of course – should have had him unedited AND they would have reaped much, MUCH greater headlines and showed that they could be “edgy”.
Of course, Harry Smith is probably “edgy” in the CBS dictionary!
Interesting.. All the talk about who and what is “normal”. Normal? Do you even know what that means? Everybody on this planet has SOMETHING abnormal about them.. So is everyone normal? Abnormal? If you have blue eyes, you’re not normal, globally-speaking.. Think about it, you feces-flinging gibbon!
