Regis Philbin announced today on Live with Regis and Kelly that he will take a leave of absence from the show to recover from hip replacement surgery he’s undergoing Dec. 1. A Regis & Kelly rep tells EW the 78-year-old host plans to return to the show after the four-to-six week recovery period that is standard for this type of medical procedure.

She needs to get Clay Aiken back and let’s get Adam Lambert too. Who else can she make homophobic comments about? “I don’t know where those hands have been” when she had covered Regis’ mouth with her own hands before.
Regis is the only reason to watch the show. Kelly is more irritating than even Kathy Lee.

They should just have Mark Consuelos fill in the whole time – he’s the best replacement they have.
Kelly annoys the living daylights out of me, but she and Mark Counsuelos do play off each other well. They definetely have chemistry.

Good. Maybe now Kelly can have co-hosts on with her who actually know something about the guests they’re talking to. How Regis can still be so popular with his general overall ignorance is beyond me.
Kelly annoys the heck out of me too! If the post from Michael Moore is the REAL Michael Moore, I’d vote for him just to make the show interesting!
If Kelly annoys you and you think Michael Moore would make it interesting, you should not be watching this show. Find something else to watch and leave those of us who love Regis and Kelly–just be.

Hopefully this leave of absence will turn into permanent retirement. He is the worst thing about the show. Time to go. Permanent replacement should be Jay Mohr. The chemistry he and kelly have is phenomanal.

Good to get him off the air for a while, but to have to contend with that airhead Rippa? Good luck to that person.
Letterman with Ripa would be awesome. Don’t see it happening, though. I think Jeff Probst is the best fill-in, although Bryant Gumbel (I can’t believe I’m saying this) did very well when he filled in a few years back.

Letterman had a great morning show when he first started, he does owe regis big time, but I disagree on bryant gumbel, man that guy’s personality is like a dead fish
