AMAs: Dick Clark Productions responds to edited Adam Lambert performance

Categories: Music, Music Biz, News, Television

Dick Clark Productions is responding to reports that the production company and ABC edited the West Coast airing of Adam Lambert’s controversial performance at the American Music Awards last night. “Due to the live nature of the show we did not expect the impromptu moment in question,” said the company in a statement. Lambert’s original performance included simulated oral sex with a male back-up dancer.

And if they (Dick Clark Productions) didn’t edit it out, then their would be a different headline on this story.

So, let me get this straight-the East Coast can handle things like this but not West Coast?
And they edited out J Lo fall too?
    What is that excuse?

I has a confusion. I’m on the West Coast, and I saw that portion just fine.

  • Shroom

    I didn’t see it – or J-Lo falling until this morning. I guess we left-coasters aren’t worthy!

I am on the East Coast and while we saw where it was going, the camera swerved away.

Snoop dog said it best about the west cost

Adam + oral moment = Miley + pole

All the same crap – different time and place – keep crying – and let the bashing comments come…..

After repeated watchings of ADAM’s performance at the AMAs on youtube, I have one question: Was the keyboardist he kissed a male? To me, it looked like the keyboardist was female. And him kissing whomever didn’t bother me at all. What bothered me was it was too over-the-top for even the AMAs. I expected so much better from ADAM LAMBERT. He should have chosen “A Time For Miracles” to perform on AMAs. His video of this song is very, very hot and very, very strong. ADAM’s performance on the AMAs WAS NOT THAT STRONG!!!

We now have a no talent ( very bad dancer/ performer) who goes to cheap disgusting actions to try and stop people from seeing how bad he sings. ABC should be ashamed of themselves. I thought not only were the crude acts revolting but the fact that he kept trying to kill that cat during his act… what?,..Oh sorry, that wailing was his singing , my bad
BS you can always edit that why they delay

My family and I were huge absolutely huge fans of Adam’s but we were all extremely disappointed in his actions at the AMA’s. This is NOT about the kiss with his band member as far as our family is concerned it was the below the belt actions that took place we found totally disgusting. I know Adam feels that it was the last performance of the night & in his mind kids shouldn’t be up but the facts are is that many, many parents let their children stay up for specifically these kinds of award shows because the one thing that parents & children have in common many times is music. So of course actually a majority of families together with the children watch these types of shows. It just wasn’t the time or most certainly not the place to make a “statement”. Late night tv like Letterman I can understand but not these types of shows like award shows. Besides why was it so important to make that kind of statement? Really was it necessary? We all know Adam is gay & accept it because he is extremely talented & yes his onstage performance is also what makes his fans love him but this kind of imitating the sexual act below the waist was just going way too far over the top. I think GMA & Dick Clark productions made the right decision in cancelling Adam’s performance because just maybe he would get carried away then too. I also disagree with Adam and because of the time and place he does owe an apology, not for the kiss but for the below the belt actions. Hopefully Adam one day will understand why it was wrong and until he apologizes and admits it was wrong we will not be watching him or buying his albums. If an artist cannot admit his mistakes then we have to question his character. So until Adam realizes there is a time and place & sees it was a mistake this family will not be buying any of his albums.

I don’t care what time this was shown. I usually DVR stuff so that I don’t have to suffer through all the commercials. I know that lots of parents would have done the same thing & let their kids watch it after school & won’t necessarily watch the show with them. I found the simulated oral sex so vulgar & extreme. Was that really necessary? This guy likes to shock people & he really thinks he can get away with anything because he claims it’s discrimmination or if you say anything you are homophobic. He thinks, & his fans think, that he is a mega star. Well, he hasn’t proven anything. He didn’t even win American Idol. The below the belt actions was totally uncalled for. Did I like the S&M theme – no. Not only am I disgusted with his attitude, he doesn’t think he did anything wrong nor feels he has anything to apologize for. I am sick to death of Adam Lambert & I will not watch any program he’s on, and I am done with American Idol. He belongs on the cabaret circuit so you know what to expect from him. He doesn’t even respect his fans. I read an article where he doesn’t even give credit to his fans for getting his as far as he did on A.I. saying he did it all, it was his talent & not them so he doesn’t owe his fans anything. Sorry Adam. Your fans thought you were talented & voted for you. You chose to act stupidly on the AMAs because you sure didn’t do anything that stupid during the competition. You were behaving yourself, now you are showing who you truly are. I don’t care what you do off camera, but please have an idea what boundaries you cannot cross on national tv. I hope he gets canceled from everything. You don’t deserve any “exposre” at all.
