'Cougar Town': Three new episodes wrapped prior to production shutdown

Categories: News, Television

ABC’s Cougar Town may have halted production while star Courteney Cox deals with a “private family matter,” but three completed, unaired episodes will keep fans of the hit freshman sitcom satisfied until early 2010. An ABC spokesperson says new Cougar Town episodes are slated for Nov. 25 and Dec. 9, as well as Jan. 6, 2010 (with guest star Lisa Kudrow), which, combined with the eight episodes already aired, would  mean the show is halfway through its full-season 22-episode order. An ABC rep had no comment on whether the network had a contingency plan — such as shooting some episodes without Cox’s Jules, and focusing on some of the show’s ensemble players — if Cox’s absence proved to be a long one. Love Cougar Town! Hope Courteney’s ok, always liked her. I find it’s hard to not like one of the “Friends”.

Hope everything is okay for her and her family.

It would be really interesting for the show to focus on other characters. That doesn’t seem like the intent so far, but it would really open up the show creatively! I just hope it wouldn’t focus on the ex-husband. He’s fun, but only as a secondary character. Too much of him gets annoying.

I’m betting someone in the Cox-Arquette family has got a drug problem…

I am the biggest Friends fan I know. I am trying so hard to love this show. (I stuck with Joey for the first season) But I’m finding Cougar Town to be difficult to like. None of the characters are really likeable. Not even Jules. Why do all characters on TV these days have to be snippy, sarcastic and selfish?

That said, I adore Courtney Cox and hope everything is ok.

      I agree with you completely,Brad.

Geez, ‘Friends’ is over, can’t Gen-X’ers move on? When it went off the air so many were saying ‘Now nothing good is on anymore!”

The new single camera, non-laugh track shows are so much better. No stupid gag jokes about sex or woman’s boobs to get audience to ‘howl’. Also, no stupid ‘we are sooo cool’ attitude as the Friends exuded.

With ‘Joey’, they just gave up and didn’t try to make it good. They were crying since Anniston wasn’t on it so was sabotaged.

    Episodes without Jules? No thanks.

Maybe it’s none of our business, but I can’t help but wonder what they “family matter” is? Maybe she & David are divorcing?

I assume we would have heard something if that were the case. Anyway, curious as I may be, I think we should try to respect their request for privacy.

I like Courtney and hope everything is ok..but this show is a total waste of airtime…I hope they cancel it.

I wounder why she took off the Arguette for this show. She added it during friends and has always used it for her other shows.

She dropped the Arquette a few years ago after her father died as a tribute to him.

I just caught this show for the first time this week, and I have to say that I think the show could be funny…if Courtney Cox was not on it. The supporting cast is waaaaaaaay funnier than she is. She’s just annoying.

  • Camron Barth

I like Kudrow! She can be the new main character.
