Oprah Winfrey’s exclusive interview with Sarah Palin on Nov. 16 gave the talk show queen her biggest audience in more than two years with a household overnight rating of 8.7 and 13 share. Those numbers exceeded Winfrey’s 2007 sit-down with the entire Osmond family, as well as the two-part interview with Whitney Houston that kicked off this season, and last season’s post-election episode.

8.7 million got to see Palin give another encore performance playing the part of the victim. She’s had this same role for more than a year and the material has become so over rehearsed that she seems like a fake. This became painfully obvious when she had to address new material. Even the simple stuff was incredibly difficult, like the Thanksgiving invitation for Levi. She side stepped then stumbled and got lost in thought until Oprah sent in a search party to help bail her out. Poor Sarah her fans are still sympathetic but they will always be a minority. Most people can see she’s really a fake.

You would think she did something awaful, such as killed someone in a DUI accident and left the scene (Ted Kennedy), cheated on her spouse over and over again (Bill Clinton), or befreinded terrorists and Marxist revolutionaries (Barack Obama).

Don’t agree with what you said about Barack Obama, but I do agree with the first two examples as well as Stacey’s. I guess having a persona that rubs people the wrong way is a more punishable offense than male politicians (one who was running for the presidency and one who WAS the president) treating their women like dirt. I’m not a Sarah Palin fan either, but the amount of venom that has been directed at this woman is astounding. Hillary, another female politicians with a strong personality, was the target of a disproportionate amount of hate during the primaries as well…hmm, wonder if we’re sensing a pattern.
If you actually read some Marx, you would realize that Obama, unfortunately for us, isn’t a “Marxist Revolutionary.” Just a typical bureaucrat with a few forward thinking ideas…such as the poverty-striken US citizen being able to seek medical treatment without becoming totally homeless and destitute. If that’s a revolution, I don’t know where you’re living.
Yes yes, we would never see such immoral or inappropriate behavior from Republican politicians, would we? Never would we witness infidelity (SC Gov. Mark Sanford, Sen. John Ensign), or engaging in extramarital affairs with EXTRA hypocrisy on the side like cheating on wife #2, just like you did on wife #1 (who, incidentally, you began divorcing while she was in the hospital with cancer) while you are simultaneously impeaching a president for engaging in an extramarital affair (Newt Gingrich), or cheat on your wife w/call girls while you are against same-sex unions because you are fighting for the “sanctity of marriage’ (Sen. David Vitter), or having some of your family money derived from supplying materials to Hitler’s Third Reich, having terrorist Osama bin Laden’s brother as an investor in your former oil company, and starting a war under false pretenses, the result of which hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians and U.S. military personnel have died (all George Bush). The list goes on and on. Get over yourselves. Democrats don’t have a monopoly on lying and cheating and corruption.

I don’t think people hate Palin at all. They are even watching the interviews to see if in the last year she has taken steps to improve her knowledge about world affairs. Unfortunately, I think her popularity will go down–this book shows her to be a person who blames others instead of accepting responsibilty for her mistakes; she seems to be very petty (ie why even comment about Levi Johnston and how she disapproves of porn); why come across as condescending to any pregnant woman who makes decisions differently that she did about a fetus with extra chromosomes; and she seems to hold grudges/wants to get even with those in the Republican Party who tried to help her. Over and over, we are learning that the facts in her book simply are not true–and we have to question why she holds so much bitterness and anger. Maybe she has mental issues–but I think she realizes that there is no chance that she could ever be elected to higher office. She has chosen the easiest route–blame others; don’t face your demons; and enjoy all the attention and laugh all the way to the bank. She realizes her 15 minutes of fame is up–but she is very greedy and wants to get all the money that she can right now.

i view palin pretty much the same way i view paris hilton: someone not extremely competent who coasts off her looks. i don’t hate either one of them; i find them annoying. to put hilary clinton in the same category as palin is an insult to ms. clinton even though i agree, ms. clinton was treated poorly in some circles because of her sex.
I think that’s a lazy comparison. She seemed to be a natural fit for governor of the state of Alaska (her performance there is what got her noticed), but then she had the audacity to think she was experienced and knowledgeable enough to deserve the vice presidency, and that’s when things went downhill.
I do agree, though, that you shouldn’t put Clinton and Palin in the same catagory.
