NBC announced today that it will air the the 62nd Primetime Emmys on Sunday, Aug. 29, 2010. The annual television awards show is typically held in mid- to late September, but by slating it in late August—before the new TV season begins—the network will avoid a scheduling conflict with Sunday Night Football. In 2006, NBC aired the Emmys on Aug. 27 for the same reason, and the network noted that that it was the highest-rated entertainment program for that summer, and stands as the highest-rated Emmy telecast of the last four years.
