ABC is close to ordering a pilot for a modern version of Charlie’s Angels, Variety reports. Josh Friedman (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles) will write and executive produce the modern Angels. Drew Barrymore, who starred in the recent Angels films, will also be on board, as will original series producer Leonard Goldberg. The original series ran from 1976-1981.

Oh, God…
LOL That was my first reaction too! Seriously though, this sounds like a desperate move that NBC would try.
YES! I’ve been waiting for either CA3 or a trip back to the small screen. Plus, since Eastwick is gone and Housewives is irrelevant, we need a new kick-ass girl-power show on the horizon.
I am not that hyped on the idea but I would suggest Summer Glau be one of the Angels. Bridget Regan would be great as well but she is doing great on Legend of the Seeker so forget that.
I second the Summer Glau idea.
Summer Glau, Kristen Bell (because she proved she was a good detective on VMars, and you always need one smart girl) and Maggie Q as Liu’s younger, hotter, sister.
what’s a summer glau?
Summer Glau was on Firefly
Ehh. I’d rather they stick with Eastwick. Plus, I think Drew is better suited to movies. If she wants to relive Charlie’s Angels again, she should just make another movie with Cameron and Lucy.
So Drew is going to be in a tv series? Is that the first for her?
No. She was in the short-lived primetime soap “2000 Malibu Road”. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0103346/
I’m guessing she’ll just be an executive producer. She may guest start or cameo the way Sandra Bullock did on ‘The George Lopez Show’ or Salma Hayak did on ‘Ugly Betty’, to give it some buzz…
This may be what killed David Lloyd.
I’ll be impressed when I see Jerry Bruckheimer, Donald Bellisario, Mark Gordon, and/or Shonda Rhimes names attached to this project. As for cast I nominate the hottie from Dancing With The Stars, Joanna Krupa.
It says that Drew will be a Producer not necessarily acting in the show. There seems to be a lack of originality with TV shows these days. Rather than creating shows that are new & fresh it’s just a lot of recycling material from the past. 90210, Melrose Place, V, the crappy ABC Family series 10 Things I Hate About You. There has even been rumors of a St. Elmo’s Fire series. The CA movies with Cam & Drew were lucky to be a success. What are the chances of finding 3 NEW actresses that compare to Farrah & Co. along w/the movie franchise. This spells DISASTER.
Don’t forget NBC’s failed attempts at resurrecting shows from the past like Bionic Woman and Knight Rider.
You said it all. I could not agree more!
Why God why?!?! No good can come from this. NONE.
BAD IDEA
…need..more..original..minds…
From where???
Seriously! Show me an idea that has NOT been already covered in some previous show (that’s 55+ years of television seasons).
Why call it “Charlie’s Angels” at all? Give it a new name, give credits to all of the main players from the original (ie: Based on the series created by Aaron Spelling)
Why did NBC insist on calling “The Bionic Woman” that name when they weren’t given permission to use any other piece of the core of the original.
They’re using the name recognition value to draw in viewer’s initially, hoping that the show will catch on…only they don’t seem to care about the quality of the show after that.
Charlie’s Angels was WAY before my time, but I love Drew Barrymore. I’ll give it a try.
I saw the movies a really long time ago. I first one was pretty good. The second one sucked. I’ce never seen the TV show.
I love Charlie’s Angels, I do. I love the original series [I watched it as repeats growing up as a kid in the 80's and 90's] I LOVED the two movies…..but…I don’t know how I feel about a television show about them. Only if they respect what all came before, maybe…like the shows and the movies…
Pretty sure Drew will produce, not act on the show. She’s still a big movie star. She aint going to tv anytime soon.
My 3 choices: Summer Glau, Rebecca Romaijn (sp?), and Gina Torres…
This will tank! It will be 59th or 65th place every week! Why would ABC remake this show? That’s an insult to the original cast, who knew how to do the show. These networks need to stop remaking some classic shows because it feels very insulting to the originators who handled the show first.
Summer Glau for sure, but I’d say leave Eliza Dushku out of it, she’s just bad luck.
And Summer is not?!?! At least Eliza has some successful projects on her resume. Summer has none!
Summer is not bad luck. All the 3 shows she has been in have been on Fox, so I’ll say Fox is bad luck.
