DC Comics’ Sgt. Rock is finally getting closer to having his own film, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Francis Lawrence (I Am Legend) will direct, with Chad St. John, who wrote the spec script The Days Before, writing. Producer Joel Silver has been trying to get the project off the ground for nearly two decades, with the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger attached to star at one point and Guy Ritchie more recently a candidate for director. But the new take will move the World War II hero into modern times.

Hollywood is pretty funny. The only thing that distinguishes “Rock” over anything else was its setting. So now they’re doing away with its setting. What’s the point of calling it “Sgt. Rock” then? Just call is a futuristic “Dirty Dozen” and leave “Sgt. Rock” out of it.
SGT ROCK belongs in the WWII era moving him anywhere else would be sacralige
