Producers Arthur E. Friedman and Steven Jay Rubin are developing a biopic of Audie Murphy, Variety reports. They have acquired the rights to Don Graham’s biography No Name on the Bullet. Murphy was one of America’s youngest soldiers to see combat. He later starred as himself in To Hell and Back and also starred in other films including The Red Badge of Courage, The Quiet American and A Time for Dying. His son Terry Murphy is also on board for the project.

How many people reading this have a clue as to who Audie Murphy was?
That’s the point of making a contemporary biopic of him, I think.
I know who Audie Murphy is. A real American hero. Medal of Honor winner. Actually saw from Hell and Back. I’d like to see his biopic. Starring who, I wonder. . .
Whoever stars as Audie has to be real short as I think he was only about 5′3″! Rules out George, Brad or Matt but leaves in Tom Cruise….lol
I think Johnny Depp should play Murphy, but then I think he should play everybody.
How can they find someone better to play him then him! Watch to Hell and Back he was great, great movie.
No remake required.
I’m thinking Vincent Karthisier for this…or, rather, a relative unknown. he resembles him. I grew up on Audie Murphy movies, so I’d be interested to see it – his story is pretty fascinating in my opinion.
I love Audie Murphy! Can’t wait to see it!
Audie was the most decorated U.S. soldier in history. He made a few fine films but his life was cut short in a tragic plane crash near Roanoke, Virginia. A true American hero…
Frankie Muniz most resembles young audie ,I hope they include the PTSD he had,That why he loved the horses for all or nothing. Also I think no name on the bullet is one of the great westerns. GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS.
The movie will not be based on the movie “No Name on the Bullet” but rather on a terrible book by Don Graham, titled “No Name on the Bullet.”
Grahams book portrayed Audie horribly in terms of his personal problems, gambling, tax problems, womanizing, pill addiction, spending, etc.
