The Sundance Institute today announced plans to bring the famed Sundance Film Festival to theaters in eight cities. The new initiative, “Sundance Film Festival U.S.A.,” will be for one night only – on January 28, 2010, during the festival’s run in Park City, Utah (January 21-31). Eight filmmakers and their films, from the official Sundance program, will be dispatched for screenings and live conversations in the following cities: Ann Arbor, MI; Brookline, MA; Brooklyn, NY; Chicago, IL; Los Angeles, CA; Madison, WI; Nashville, TN; and San Francisco, CA. “The concept behind Sundance Film Festival U.S.A. is to ignite dialogue as people across the country engage in a collective film experience,” said Sundance founder Robert Redford in a press statement. A video from Redford will run before each screening.
