Will Fetters to write 'Crazy for the Storm' for Warner Bros.

Warner Bros. has hired hot screenwriter Will Fetters to write the adventure film Crazy for the Storm, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The project is based on Norman Ollestad’s memoir, about his childhood and surviving the plane crash that killed his adventurous father. Fetters is also working on Warner’s A Star is Born and Nicholas Sparks adaptation The Lucky One.

Bon Jovi signs artist-in-residence deal with NBC

Bon Jovi is in business with the NBC family as artist in residence, according to Reuters. The band will perform on NBC’s Today show on four Wednesdays in November, singer Jon Bon Jovi will appear on Bravo’s Inside the Actor’s Studio, and he will also be showcased on the USA network. The band’s music, including new album The Circle, will also feature on NBC Universal’s network and cable programs.

Joshua Leonard of 'Humpday' to direct T.C. Boyle adaptation 'The Lie'

Humpday actor Joshua Leonard will make his feature directing debut and star in indie film The Lie, Variety reports. The film, based on a T.C. Boyle short story published in The New Yorker, is about a man who lies to get out of work but accidentally changes his life. The cast also includes Jane Adams (Hung) and Kelli Garner. The Lie will start shooting in Los Angeles later this moh.

Ian Somerhalder to star in gothic fairy tale 'Cradlewood'

Ian Somerhalder, star of The Vampire Diaries and Lost, will headline the cast of romantic gothic fairy tale Cradlewood, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Harry Weinmann will direct the indie film. Somerhalder plays the scion of a rich family with a family history involving a demon pact. Emma Lung (The Boys are Back) plays his girlfriend. The film is set to shoot in April 2010.

Will Ferrell to star in indie film 'Everything Must Go'

Will Ferrell will star in Everything Must Go, an indie film to be directed by commercials director Dan Rush, Variety reports. Rush also wrote the script, based on a Raymond Carver short story. Ferrell plays a guy who loses his job and gets kicked out by his wife, so he spends a few days trying to sell his possessions from her front lawn.

Chris Messina to star in 'Devil,' based on M. Night Shyamalan story

Chris Messina will star in Universal’s horror-thriller film Devil, Variety reports. The film is based on an M. Night Shyamalan story (scripted by 30 Days of Night‘s Brian Nelson) and will be directed by John Erick Dowdle and Drew Dowdle. Messina (Julie and Julia, Vicky Cristina Barcelona) will play a recently sober detective. The film, part of a slate of genre films called Night Chronicles, starts shooting in Toronto on Oct. 26.

Ryan Reynolds to don drag in romantic comedy

Working Title has won a bidding war to produce a comedy starring Ryan Reynolds in drag, according to Variety. The untitled movie, about a jilted boyfriend who disguises himself as a woman in order to win back his ex, reportedly attracted interest from Neal Moritz’s Original Film as well as New Regency.

A-ha announces break up

A-ha is oh-ver. According to the BBC, the 25-year-old Norwegian pop group, famous for “Take On Me,” is splitting up just months after scoring a top ten album on the UK charts. The reason for the break up: The trio are quoted as saying they wanted to pursue “other meaningful aspects of life, be it humanitarian work, politics, or whatever else.”

Evan Rachel Wood, Kevin Kline join Robert Redford's 'The Conspirator'

Variety reports that Robert Redford has cast more roles in The Conspirator, his period drama about the aftermath of Abraham Lincoln’s assassination. Joining James McAvoy and Robin Wright Penn will be Tom Wilkinson, Evan Rachel Wood, Kevin Kline and Alexis Bledel. Shooting started this week in Savannah, Georgia.
