'Balloon Boy' parents were developing a reality show

EW has confirmed that Richard and Mayumi Heene, the parents of 6-year-old Falcon (a.k.a. “Balloon Boy”), were developing a reality show about their family with RDF Media USA, the same company that produces Wife Swap (on which they appeared). The project is no longer active. A rep for TLC confirms that RDF pitched the show to the network months ago and they passed.

Last night, speculation ignited about the balloon incident when Falcon told Wolf Blitzer on Larry King Live “we did this for a show.” On the Today show this morning, Richard Heene denied that it was a hoax.

UPDATE: RDF released this statement on Friday: “At one point in time, we had a show in development with the Heenes. We are no longer in active development with the family. Like everyone else in America, we were stunned and held our breath while the events of yesterday unfolded, and like everyone else, we are extremely thankful that Falcon is safe with his family.”

Judge extends Lindsay Lohan's probation by a year

At a hearing in Beverly Hills today, a judge added an additional year to Lindsay Lohan’s existing three-year probation sentence, according to People. Earlier today, Lohan was ordered to appear in court for a progress report in her two DUI cases from 2007. Once there, the actress’ attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley told Judge Revel that there had been a miscommunication: Lohan hadn’t informed the instructors of her alcohol education class that she would return to the course after she left the country for work. Revel told Lohan, “I ordered you into court today because I wanted to speak to you directly. I don’t want to get any more notices again [that you might be in violation of probation], no warrants … where you’re thumbing your nose at the court.” He then ordered the actress to get prior court approval before leaving Los Angeles for work and warned her that any failure to comply with the terms of her probation could lead to jail time. “I’m rooting for you to successfully complete probation,” he added. Lohan’s only words in court were “yes” when asked if she understood all the proceedings. Her next progress review hearing is Dec. 15.
