Ann Peacock will write the adaptation of novel Airman for Disney and Robert Zemeckis’ ImageMovers, Variety reports. Gil Kenan will direct the $150-million project. The fantasy adventure is about the son of a king’s bodyguard who is imprisoned when the king is murdered, and designs a flying machine to save his family. Peacock previously adapted The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

Mia Hamm to produce soccer mom film
Variety reports that soccer star Mia Hamm will work with Breaking Ball Films to produce a film version of Alive and Kicking: When Soccer Moms Take the Field. The book, by Harvey Araton, is about mothers in New Jersey who got tired of staying on the sidelines and form their own team.
Jay-Z, Alicia Keys to perform together at American Music Awards
Show producers have confirmed that Jay-Z will perform at the American Music Awards, appearing with Alicia Keys in a “special collaborative act,” which sounds like their duet of “Empire State of Mind.” He is nominated this year for Favorite Male Artist and Favorite Album. Other previously announced performers include The Black Eyed Peas, Jennifer Lopez and Adam Lambert. The show will air live on ABC on November 22.
NBC takes on 'Biggest Loser' spinoff starring Jillian Michaels
NBC has picked up a new Biggest Loser spinoff starring trainer Jillian Michaels, Variety reports. The network has ordered eight episodes of Losing It with Jillian Michaels, produced by Reveille and Empowered Media. The premise of the show is that Michaels will move in with families (with children ages nine and up) to change their diet and exercise habits.
Kelly Ripa, Mark Consuelos to return for 'All My Children' anniversary
Kelly Ripa and her husband Mark Consuelos are set to return to All My Children for the soap’s 40th anniversary, the AP reports. AMC will celebrate the anniversary on Jan. 5, 2010; Ripa and Consuelos, who both left the show in 2002, will return for episodes airing Jan. 4-5 as their old characters of Hayley Vaughn and Mateo Santos. Ripa said that Live With Regis and Kelly will show behind the scenes footage from their return to the show.
'Good Hair' poised for wide release after judge's ruling
Though the film has been locked in a legal battle, Chris Rock’s documentary, Good Hair, will indeed open nationwide Oct. 23, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Rock had been sued by Regina Kimbell, the My Nappy Roots director who accused the comedian of stealing her ideas, and demanded the film be blocked from release. A U.S. judge who viewed both films said she did not see enough similarities to halt the release.
UPDATE: In a statement released to the press, Kimbell’s attorney Reginald K. Brown said: “We always knew that it would be tough getting the judge to grant a request for a preliminary injunction. We are looking forward to going to trial.”
Angelina Jolie's 'Tourist' on schedule for 2011 release
The Tourist, a remake of the 2005 French thriller Anthony Zimmer, is set to begin production in February, with Angelina Jolie locked in as the film’s lead character. The film’s director hasn’t been officially confirmed, but The Lives of Others director Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck is a frontrunner to helm the picture, according to Variety. Tourist will likely be scheduled for a 2011 release.
Michelle Obama to appear on 'The Jay Leno Show'
Michelle Obama will appear on The Jay Leno Show this Friday, NBC announced today. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the first lady will respond to 10 “rapid-fire questions” in a bit for the talk show. Colin Firth is also scheduled to appear as a guest on the program Friday.
Beyoncé postpones Malaysia concert
Singer Beyoncé has postponed an upcoming concert in Malaysia following Islamic conservatives’ accusations regarding the show’s morality, according to The Associated Press. The New York Times, however, reports that the Malaysian entertainment company attached to the show — Marctensia — claimed Beyoncé’s decision had “nothing to do with other external reasons.” Conservatives in the country were concerned about the singer’s provocative costumes. Beyoncé had previously canceled a performance in 2007 in Malaysia after protest threats arose regarding her wardrobe.
