Chris Weitz says no director is confirmed for fourth 'Twilight' film

Filed under: News and tagged: ,

In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, New Moon director Chris Weitz says there has been “no official offer” for him to direct the Twilight series’ fourth film. “We’ll have to see how people feel about the entire movie, not only the studio but the fans, before the verdict is out whether I direct Number 4,” Weitz tells THR. “David Slade is doing a great job on the third film, and by the time that comes out, he’ll be the flavor of the moment.”

Weitz says he didn’t shoehorn more Robert Pattinson into the New Moon story just to please rabid fans. “Part of the point was that Edward was away,” Weitz says. “Readers of the book know this and appreciate it. The story is about loss and heartache; he is present as an absence. Bella is always thinking of him and affected by him. His return to the film is really powerful and made more so by not having millions of ‘back at the ranch’ scenes…There are people who would like nothing more that two hours of Rob Pattinson standing there, and I sympathize with them. But I think they’ll appreciate getting him back after the second act. We didn’t want to shoehorn him into the story.”

Continuing, Weitz told THR that he had a “really good collaboration” with author Stephenie Meyer and consulted her throughout making the film, on crucial elements such as the depiction of the Volturi headquarters in Italy.

This revelation has surprised many familiar with the case, since Polanski owns a Chalet in Switzerland and has traveled there many times without incident. Since his arrest, the Swiss have denied Polanski’s requests for house arrest and to be released on bail.

About a year after she famously turned down Oprah Winfrey’s invitation to appear on her talk show, Sarah Palin will finally take a seat on Oprah’s couch on Nov. 16, according to People. During the 2008 presidential campaign, many believed that Palin declined the invite because Winfrey was such an outspoken supporter of  the rival ticket.  But months ago, Winfrey predicted that Palin might have a change of heart when it was time to promote her upcoming memoir Going Rogue: An American Life, saying, “Maybe she’ll talk to me now that she has a book deal.”

Balloon Boy: Former colleague says Heene planned hoax

Filed under: News and tagged:

A former business associate of “Balloon Boy” dad Richard Heene appeared on NBC’s Today show this morning to claim that he knew of previous plans by Heene to hoax the media with a fake UFO. College student Robert Thomas said he had worked as an intern for Heene as he developed a reality show. As soon as he saw the now-discredited reports of Heene’s son’s disappearance in a large balloon, Thomas recalled thinking, “Who would possibly do something like this? It has to be Richard Heene.” Thomas recently sold a more detailed account of his work with Heene to Gawker.com.
