GSN lands Carnie Wilson reality show

Carnie Wilson will showcase her effort to drop 50 pounds of baby-weight in a new reality program, Carnie Wilson: Unstapled, for GSN. The former Wilson Phillips singer and current host of GSN’s The Newlywed Game gave birth to daughter Luci in June, and told the AP, “This is definitely the most exposed I’ve ever been.” Production is scheduled to begin in January.

Wolfmother's Andrew Stockdale lends vocals to Slash

Wolfmother frontman Andrew Stockdale will appear on guitarist Slash’s upcoming solo album. According to the BBC, the lead singer of the Australian band recorded a track for the former Guns N Roses guitarist, whose album is slated for release later this year. Stockdale tells the BBC that Slash had contacted him earlier this year to sing on the record and that he considered the invite “an honour.”

Wes Craven: 'A deal has not yet been set' for 'Scream 4'

Last night, director Wes Craven addressed rumors that he will be directing another Scream sequel with an update from his Twitter account: “In response to the rumors about me directing Scream 4, a deal has not yet been set, so stay tuned for accurate information.” However, on Oct. 16, the director had tweeted, “I had dinner with KW last night, and the script sounds fantastic!” giving enthusiastic fans of the horror franchise hope that he’ll soon be re-teaming with Scream scribe Kevin Williamson.

NBC takes on Paul Rust's Wal-Mart comedy

NBC is planning a new sitcom from actor/writer Paul Rust which will be produced through Conan O’Brien’s Conaco at Universal Media Studios, Variety reports. Rust will write the project and star as himself, recounting his days as a college graduate who takes a job at a small-town Wal-Mart (in the show, it will be a fictional store). He has previously acted in I Love You, Beth Cooper and Inglourious Basterds.

Steve Buscemi, Stanley Tucci plan new TV projects

Steve Buscemi, Stanley Tucci and Wren Arthur’s Olive Prods. have created their first TV projects, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Tucci himself will star in an untitled HBO family drama about a politicial rebuilding his life after a scandal. Separately, TBS has taken on Good and Evel, an animated family comedy that will feature voices of Tucci and Buscemi.

Paula Wagner taps Lee Daniels for 'Miss Saigon' movie

Former United Artists CEO and Tom Cruise producer Paula Wagner is readying a film adaptation of Miss Saigon, Variety reports. Lee Daniels, hot off his awards-season contender Precious, would direct. No writer is attached yet. Wagner wants to get the film in production in 2010 for a 2011 release.The love story about a Vietnamese bar girl and American soldier ran for nearly 10 years on Broadway. Separately, Wagner is working on a musical with Run-DMC.

Cary Fukunaga in talks for new 'Jane Eyre'

Cary Fukunaga, who directed Sundance selection Sin nombre, is in advanced talks to direct a new version of Jane Eyre, Variety reports. He would work with Moira Buffini’s script for the project, from England’s Ruby Films and BBC Films.

Vanessa Redgrave, Monica Bellucci join 'The Whistleblower'

Variety reports that Vanessa Redgrave, David Strathairn, Monica Bellucci, Nikolaj Lie Kaas and Anna Anissimova have joined political drama The Whistleblower, starring Rachel Weisz. The film, based on a true story, is about a policewoman (Weisz) tho uncovers a scandal in postwar Bosnia. The Whistleblower starts shooting next week in Romania with director Larysa Kondracki.
