Swiss authorities reject Polanski's offer of higher bail

Tags:

The AP is reporting that Swiss authorities have rejected a new higher offer of bail from Roman Polanski, who has been imprisoned in Switzerland since his arrest there last month. “We still consider the flight risk as high,” Swiss justice ministry spokesman Folco Galli told the AP. Galli claimed that the offer was not made in cash and failed to address concerns that Polanski, 76, would flee Switzerland while he awaits possible extradition to Los Angeles, where he fled sentencing 31 years ago for having sex with a 13-year-old girl. Polanski has 10 days to appeal to the Swiss Criminal Court, which his lawyer HervĂ© Temime said was the plan. “This is absolutely what we want,” Temime said.

Nice to know he can’t buy his way out of this one.

I do feel bad for his victim who feels victimized all over again by the press, but he needs to stay where he is and be held accountable.

Good , this child rapist should stay in jail until he is handed over to the US and then he should be sent to jail. N one should ever be able to get away with raping a child, no matter how rich or powerful.

So Polanski found out that he couldn’t buy his way out of this situation. Good! If they let him pay a higher bail, he would have skipped the country.
