Sarah Palin: Levi Johnston's Playgirl shoot is 'desperate'

Categories: News, Politics

According to People, former Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin has lashed out against claims made by Levi Johnston, the 19-year-old father of her grandson. Johnston, who recently signed on for a nude pictorial in Playgirl, told CBS’ The Early Show that Palin used to call her son, Trig, “retarded.” (Trig has Down Syndrome). He also claimed to have more dirt on the former Alaska governor, saying “You know, I mean, if I really wanted to hurt her, I could very easily. But there’s – I’m not gonna do it.” In a statement, Palin refuted Johnston’s allegations, saying, “Trig is our ‘blessed little angel’ who knows it and is lovingly called that every day of his life.” She also warned the public against trusting Johnston, citing his upcoming  Playgirl spread. “Those who would sell their body for money reflect a desperate need for attention and are likely to say and do anything for even more attention.”

It takes desperate to know desperate.

    • JLI

      WORD!

    • charlie

      WORD YO.

    • Amy

Agreed. If he’s spreading lies, why is Palin upset? Nervous about the truth, perhaps?

Geez – ease up. People make typos all the time. Focus on the message, not inconsequential typos.

        Ben, teris….lol

    • Amy

      LOL!

    • David

When did she sell her body?

      • Marcus

Probably when she decided to run as VP alongside John McCain. Or when she agreed to do interviews for prices so high Republicans balked at her fee. Or when she published a memoir. Or when she went shopping like a maniac during the presidential campaign. That’s all I got for right now. Anybody want to add anything?

      • Liz

How about when she was a beauty queen?

  • KEVIN

She should not have even dignified his comments w/ a response. It seems that every time this woman opens her mouth she is on the defense. Though this time I agree w/ her and this Levi guy is just seeking attention. But I think this woman has some issues, 2 wrongs don’t make a right!

    • jake25

He may be starving for attention, but for some reason, I believe him. Pallin’s actions are questionable. I think that when she left the governor’s office to write her “memoirs,” her integrity became an issue also.

      • anne

I don’t. Simply because no mother, republican democrat or independent, would call their child with special needs retarded. No mother would.

      • Brian

Oh Anne, don’t make blanket generalizations. Mothers do much worse than call their children names all the time. Get real.

      • alysse

Brian, good mothers Don’t call their children names. No matter their politics. You get real. Palin is a good mother. This young media hog is just too full of himself. If she was a person to call names it would have been Levi not her son. She held her tongue with him. And for those that say not answer ing is better. Not these days. Also she did the harder thing and resign her position. We here in SC wish our Governor would resign for the betterment of the state. It is a huge distraction and she wasn’t even guilty of anything she was accused of. Our confesses his stupidity and stays.

      • N8

Oh Alysse, Palin didn’t quit for the betterment of her state. She left because we saw dollar signs behind leaving. Get real.

      • Michael

Alysse…let’s not talk politics unless we know what we are talking about. I’m an indendant voter who leans right but I’m not deluded enough to think her resignation was merely for the good of Alaska. Can we talk cop-outs? Ulterior Motives?

You may be a good mother(if you in fact are), but don’t claim to know what Sarah Palin does or says behind closed doors. Good mothers usually don’t preach family values from the pulpit while their daughters are out screwing the local trailer trash. I don’t give to craps about what she said or didn’t say and am not going to judge her by that one comment(she’s given me enough reasons to dislike her already). What we know is who she is as a politician and a public woman. Don’t claim that you have insight into her mothering skills because you do not.

      • BenG

Alysse, Anne never said “good” mothers. And I hardly think Mrs. Palin is up for Mother of the Year. Although K-Fed was awarded Father of the Year so maybe Americans just have a warped view of what a “good parent” stands for. Palin = opportunist. Period.

    • James S.

Johnston may be seeking attention, but at least he isn’t being coy about it–or hiding behind family values.

  • couchgrouch

it’s a white trash Spy vs Spy.

  • wysiwyg

It’s the Hatfields and McCoys all over again.

    • McCoy

      I resemble that remark!

      • Hatfield

Shut up, McCoy. The time for talk’n is done. The only way for Palin to get even is to pose in Playboy.

  • jack richey

As for the fame seeking Johnston, I wander if there’s a porn film in his future.

    • Brian

      Let’s hope so!

      • Katja

        Eww. Let’s hope NOT.

      • Brian

        No, let’s hope so.

      • Nick T

        Yes, let’s hope so!!

This assumes she held and operated by some admirable principles in the first place.

  • Brian

What a sweet sweet blessed little angel treasure boo bah!

    • Michael

I can’t stop laughing at this comment. I need to stop drinking all this coffee.

I am always on the side of the cute guy who’s gonna show us his wiener.

You’re disgusting. So am I: show me the WIENER!

    • Brenda DuBois

      hells yea

    • katgirl

Everyone always says “lol” to anything remotely funny, but really did make me laugh out loud.

  • wakeforce

If Levi really has any dirt on Palin, I saw Bring It On! after the ACORN mess, anything you got on the Republikkkans is fair game!

  • Kaja

Levi is only trying to make some money for his family – it’s an opportunity that he could not pass up and was willing to leave the position of Gov. of Alaska to pursue other options. OH SORRY – that was Sarah’s reason

  • jenn

this is so funny, i love levi just because he is the Palin’s worse nightmare!Attention Sarah if you taught your daughter about birth control in the 1st place he wouldnt be bothering you

  • Kat

Isn’t it legit to say that the baby is retarded? I’m not as familiar with Down Syndrome as maybe I ought to be. But before it was a lame schoolyard insult, retarded had a more clinical meaning, and while I know there’s a range of functionality with Down Syndrome, isn’t there some mental retardation there? My apologies if I am wrong and have gotten this mixed up with something else. I assume Levi is just doing his best Jon Gosselining for attention by trying to bring Palin down while elevating his own fame. And I can’t STAND Sarah Palin, but I might be on her side in this case.

    • Ellipsian

“Retarded” has been used as a pejorative for so many years that the negative connotation now outweighs the former technical correctness of the word. At this point, one has to be more PC about how one phrases such a condition. Here in the States, the American Association on Mental Retardation, in 2006, changed their name to the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.

      • McCoy

So it’s a PC issue, then.

      • Lesley

I have a Mac no PC’s for me

    • KFed

The context Levi says Sarah used it in – which isn’t clear in this story – was “Where’s my retarded baby?” As opposed to using it in a clinical sense.

    • Kate

Retarded is an out of date term that is no longer used as a means of describing a condition. As a teaching with extensive training in children with learning disabilities, I know that Mrs. Palin would have received some sort of counseling from her doctors once the baby was born (or even before) and understood the proper terminology and treatment for her son. That being said, she seems to have no grasp on the modern world or the socially accepted way of doing things, so it doesn’t surprise me that she would use such an offensive term. As a politician, and mother she should know better.

That being said, Levi is a tool, but can you blame the kid for trying to ride the fame wave as long as he can?

      • McCoy

Isn’t calling someone a tool also offensive?

      • James

        What exactly is a “teaching”?

      • Shel

God, I’m so tired of people wasting space pointing out a simple typo in a blog. Anyone with half a brain knew what she was saying.

      • James S.

Levi’s tool? Is the Playgirl spread out already??

      • John

I have to apologize, then, for my use of the word. I have called Palin retarded many times and now realize I should have said ‘mentally disabled.’

  • KFed

Until Sarah is prepared to get naked, I’d rather listen to Levi.

    • Dark Dot

Once Sarah is prepared to get naked, I’d rather look at Levi.

      • Brenda DuBois

In fact, I’d look at Levi even if Sarah never prepares to get naked.

  • Addison

And why we should care about what either one of them says/thinks is beyond me.

    • aimee

Maybe because a lot of pundits still say she has a decent chance at becoming president of the United States. We need to care about just how dumb and deluded she is.

      • Autie

I hate the word “pundit”. It sounds like a fart or something.

      • Shel

The idea that anyone seriously considers her a viable candidate for President (or any political office) just shows us what a joke our media has become. They get force-fed garbage and instead of asking why, we get an in-depth analysis of the garbage as if it were really a 4-course meal at a 4-star restaurant. Everyone – media, Democrats, Republicans, people on the street – should have stood up and said, “Are you kidding me??” when McCain picked her. It was a ill-considered, juvenile, amateur attempt to get women to switch parties just because Clinton didn’t win the Democratic nomination. *This* woman wants someone who has actually earned the spot and has a clue about foreign policy beyond believing that Alaska is protecting us from Russia.

      • Michael

Sarah Palin will never be president. The fact that she still has any approval from her party is merely a reflection upon the state of the Republicans. They have no viable candidate at the moment and there are still enough red-state, middle American hicks who support josephina the plumber. I was a fan of McCain’s until he picked that joke of a running mate.

      • ss

Hey Aimee – look in the mirror

      • Kelley

Amen, Michael. I was also a fan of McCain’s early on until he picked her. All that showed me was a complete and utter lack of judgment. Thankfully, they didn’t win because what else would he have done?
