Revamped 'Scrubs' coming to ABC on Dec. 1

Categories: News, Television

ABC’s revamped version of Scrubs, which will shift to a medical school instead of a hospital, will launch on Dec. 1, Variety reports. Two original episodes will air that night, with Better Off Ted returning to the network on Dec. 8. The med school revamp of Scrubs will star returning actors John C. McGinley and Donald Faison alongside Eliza Coupe, Michael Mosley, Kerry Bishe and Dave Franco. Zach Braff will also return for several episodes.

ABC should move Scrubs to Wednesday night and replace the awful Hank. If they must keep Hank on the air move it to Tuesday night so it can be crushed by the NCIS juggernaut. The other three shows on Wednesday on ABC are great, and Scrubs would fit in perfectly.

    • Emma

Amen. Instead of replacing Hank, they should replace Eastwick. Scrubs would play well at 10.

      • greg

i love eastwick… and no, a comedy would not play well at 10pm

  • jordanx

    yaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyy cant wait for scrubs!!!

  • TTD

Wooohooo!!! Better off Ted is the best show ever! Cant wait to see the new episodes!

    • Randi

      agreed!

  • Jay

still can’t believe they cancelled Samantha Who for Scrubs that really isn’t Scrubs. One of the worst decisions ever.

    • swthompson

having not seen the new version of Scrubs, I am amazed by your clairvoyance.

      • Jay

Thank you for your amazement, you know what they say, its a gift. Stand by my opinion though, SW was an Emmys award winning show that was unique and witty. I don’t think it should have been cancelled at the expense of a show that has most of its key characters gone.

it didn’t replace Samantha Who, Scrubs was aiming for season 8 to be their last season, but because SW wasn’t getting good ratings and no one really watched it, and Scrubs did have good ratings it was possible to make another season and still fit back into ABC’s format, so they went for it. No one stole anything, if u wanna blame anyone, blame the retarded MTV watching viewers

Chris, check your facts. Scrubs was not getting good ratings during it’s 8th season. In fact, Samantha Who’s ratings, while still not very good, were better than Scrubs. Which made it all the more puzzling that ABC canceled Sam Who and renewed Scrubs. It was a big mistake, seeing as how at one time (only a year prior), Sam Who was the highest rated comedy on TV. It suffered during season 2 from a bad timeslot. Had ABC renewed the show for a 3rd season and paired it with Cougar Town on Wednesday nights, ratings would have presumably gone back up.
I’ve always liked Scrubs, but it was on for 8 years. It’s time was up and it could have gone out on a high note. Sam Who, on the other hand, had only been on for two seasons, was still creatively fresh, and had a lot of potential. It’s a shame that ABC had another one of their usual lapses in judgment when they made the decision to cancel it.

    • Gus

Don’t know about the new Scrubs, but did not like Samantha at all.

    • Sari

I’m actually looking forward to the new Scrubs.
ABC has a bad track record with shows. My So-Called Life, Traveler, Eli Stone, and Pushing Daisies were all shows that were canceled way too early! USA at least takes chances–love White Collar, Psych, and Burn Notice! When will you learn ABC?

      • Emma

ABC is still not half as bad as NBC. They’re keeping Leno on while dumping perfectly good shows like Southland and Trauma.

      • chris

i’m sorry but no one’s worse than Fox. Terminator cancelation was unacceptable, and i still can’t forgive them for Futurama. They also canceled their star show right now, Family Guy, i think after its 2nd or 3rd season

    • Amy

Oh please, they didn’t cancel Samantha Who for scrubs. They canceled Samantha Who because it didn’t have the viewing numbers. Nobody cancels a show if it’s doing well….end of story. Blaming Scrubs is just dumb.

  • Jim

I can’t wait for Better Off Ted. It is a great show. But, Scrubs? Really? ABC felt the need to revamp this tired, old show that should have been gone years ago and they get rid of the 2 best shows they ever had, Pushing Daises and Eli Stone? Who the heck is making the decisions at ABC?

    • Jackie

Well whoever it is they’re drinking the same stupid juice as the execs at NBC. I miss Eli :(

  • Emma

I can’t wait! I love Better Off Ted.

  • Sarah

I love Better Off Ted! I just hope that by airing it in December it doesn’t get poor ratings and then cancelled. Cancel Hank and move BOT to Wednesday nights.

  • David

I can’t say I’m excited for Scrubs 2.0 but I will at least give it a shot. Better off Ted on the other hand, that’s an awesome show and I can’t wait!

  • JJ

    Ted! Ted! Ted! Ted! Ted!

  • Amy

Yay!! I need my Phil and Lem!

  • KAL

BETTER OFF TED!!!! YAY!!!!!!! Between Better Off Ted and Modern Family, ABC will now have 2 of the best, non-traditional comedies on TV right now.

    • Skeletor P.Funk

Couldn’t agree with you more KAL. These are 2 of the most inventive, funny and well-cast comedies on TV in ages. You’d have to go back to The Knights of Prosperity, which also starred Sofia Vergara (coincidence, I think not) to find as unique a show. Bravo ABC! For once, you got it right.

    • Q

Pairing them up wouldn’t be a bad idea, either. Move Hank to the Tuesday slot (or just put it out to pasture) and put BOT at 8.30 between The Middle and Family.

      • Skywilker

Q – That would be an Awesome 1-2 punch!!! Good call

  • jlee

yeah. can’t wait for better off ted. jabberwocky!

  • trashytvlover

cant wait to see what the new scrubs has to offer. I was a huge fan of the series, just watched the finale the other day (again!) and just cannot believe that it is gone….hoping the revamp is just as good. As for Ted, saw a coupla eps last season and loved it, i think it was just on a bad night for me cause it never caught on…..thank god i finally got a DVR!

  • John

Yay for something to watch on Tuesday nights!

  • Dee

I loved Scrubs but it’s really over.
