Oliver Platt to join Gabourey Sidibe, Laura Linney in 'The C Word'

Oliver Platt (Huff) has reportedly joined the cast of Showtime’s dark comedy pilot The C Word, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Platt will play the husband of Cathy (Laura Linney), a suburban mother who has discovered that she has terminal cancer. Gabourey Sidibe, who can be seen in the upcoming Oscar-buzz film Precious, has also been cast in the show’s pilot episode, a Showtime rep confirmed to EW. Bill Condon (Dreamgirls) is directing the pilot.

    Terminal cancer? Wouldn’t the series DEFINATELY have an end date then? not a smart move on showtime…

    dude, if you’re going to put the word in all caps, at least spell it correctly. it’s DEFINITELY.

    but anyway, yeah, if she has terminal cancer then how long will the show run? i won’t worry about it for now as i just adore laura linney and am excited to see her in anything! now i just need to get showtime again…

    Cancer? I thought the “C” word was an anatomical female part that should only be used to describe Ann Coulter.
