'So You Think You Can Dance' contestant Billy Bell leaves show due to illness

Categories: News, Television

So You Think You Can Dance contestant Billy Bell has left the show due to an undisclosed illness. The 19-year-old contemporary dancer became an early favorite on the sixth season of the dance competition series, joining its vaunted Top 20 after bringing several judges to tears with his solo audition. Executive producer and judge Nigel Lythgoe said in a statement from Fox that he is “disappointed that Billy cannot continue dancing in the competition on advice of his doctor and wish him a speedy recovery.” Bell will be replaced by 21-year-old hip-hop dancer Brandon Dumlao, who will join the show on Tuesday’s two-hour performance episode.

Sad! He was amazing. I hope it’s a temporary illness that allows him to return next summer.

Dammit dammit dammit Billy! IDK if he’ll get a ticket to Vegas automatically, considering Nigel already gave him one s5 when it turned out Billy was too yung to be on the show. Two seasons in a row, me thinks Billy will have to start over (as he should. the show must go on, right?)

yeah Billy was a really good dancer but the third eye on his forehead was distracting

I’ve heard that Billy Bell has been granted a slot in season 7 already (not Vegas, but on the actual top 20 show). So long as his health doesn’t interfere too much with his dancing in the next year I’m okay with that. He had mono so I think he had to stop dancing altogether and take a few months to rest and recoup but I’m sure from there he will get right back to dancing and his talent will ensure a few months off is no problem. He was one of my favorites going in.
