Scarlett Johansson will star in a Broadway revival of Arthur Miller’s A View From the Bridge in early 2010. The actress, who will be making her Broadway debut, will play the teenage niece of a Brooklyn longshoreman, played by theater vet Liev Schreiber. She was attached to a film adaptation of this play back in 2006, with Anthony Lapaglia playing the role Liev Schreiber has. Frances McDormand was also involved, and Barry Levinson was set to direct.
Must be a passion project of hers. The plot sounds similar to ‘On The Waterfront.’
the role she’s going to play is so lightweight. this won’t really show her great acting chops, if she has any.
She does. She’s been in a few great movies (Lost in Translation, Match Point) and was very good in them. Never understood why she got the bad rap that she did.
she plays the same sexy ingenue role over and over.
she is not a very good actress. and the fact that she is on broadway is appalling…most actors who want to be on broadway work for years to get make the stage, and someone who’s done a few movies…some not even good..(The Spirit, anyone? ) to be on a broadway stage is really just upesetting
Please ask her not to!
Give her a break. She may be a good match for this role. The play is good, I’m sure she’ll do great. I guess we’ll have to wait until it opens to find out.
This is a great play. I can’t wait to see Scarlett and Liev in this!
