The Invention of Lying’s Ricky Gervais has been tapped to host The 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards airing Jan. 17, 2010 at 8pm ET/PT on NBC. Gervais will be the award show’s first host since 1995. “Not only is this the biggest Hollywood celebration of the industry which includes both film and TV, but also an environment where I feel I can get free reign as a host. I have resisted many other offers like this, but there are just some things you don’t turn down,” said Gervais.

FINALLY. it’s been a long time coming.
Set your DVR’s now. This is going to be good.
Awesome. He is hilarious.
Excellent… free-flowing booze & British humour! I am now excited to watch the Globes.
About time. He kills as a presenter. Can’t wait.
His introductory bits on other awards show always have me in stitches…I may even be able to convince my husband to watch this year!
Let’s hope this is a warm up for the Oscars, although they may be a little too stuffy for Ricky. Not that I blame him. But this is AWESOME news!
YAY! I am so watching that. I can’t believe this. I’m so excited. He is such a funny guy.
Excellent choice.
Booze and Brit wit? LOVE IT!
BRILLIANT!
That’s great – but who’s left to host the Oscars now? Hugh Jackman has been advised to skip the gig, Neil Patrick Harris is reportedly VERY reluctant to even consider it…
STEPHEN COLBERT OR WANDA SYKES!!!
Love it! And have him host the Oscars too especially now there are 10 Best Picture Nominees this year. He would make the show move so quickly.
I don’t think he can/should do both. And the Oscars are said to be similar to this year’s – I don’t think Ricky is such a great singer and/or dancer…?
FINALLY. I can’t wait to watch the Golden Globes now. He’s freaking hilarious as a presenter, how much more as a host? This is history in the making!
ITS ABOUT TIME!!!!
