Microsoft yanks sponsorship of Seth MacFarlane special: report

Categories: News, Television

Microsoft has decided not to sponsor Fox’s upcoming Seth MacFarlane comedy/variety special because of content concerns, Variety reports. Fox still intends to broadcast “Family Guy Presents: Seth and Alex’s Almost Live Comedy Show” on Nov. 8, but with another, yet-to-be-named, sponsor.

I hope Apple sponors Seth’s special out of spite. Sad thing is I’m a PC and I’m saying this hahahaha but it’s true

I came here to say this. I think that would be great.

This is yet another example of how out of touch Microsoft really is. Yes, I’m a Mac AND a PC.

Content concerns? Did they realize who they were sponsoring?

this makes me want to watch it even more.

Boo-Hoo. sniff sniff. South Park rules!

    • Mark

South Park has sucked since it Stone and Parker decided to become preachy.

It’s a plot by both Microsoft and Fox to secure free publicity and hype the supposedly “controversial” nature of the program in a transparent attempt to lure in more viewers. Kinda like that fake scandal over the Family Guy abortion episode.

Even after they sold their souls by making a Windows 7 commercial? I guess Microsoft is only willing to jump on the bandwagon for so long.

Microsoft has absolutely no corporate philosophy, other than the one about trying to lock out the competition. They’re the GM of modern computing i.e. “you’ll take what we give you, no matter how bad it is.” What a joke.

Time to cancel Family Guy again. It isn’t funny anymore.

    • Mark

And, of course, your opinion is the be all, end all and the millions who are giving the show it’s highest ratings ever should just be completely ignored.

  • MLBK30

Just one more reason why Microsoft is completely irrelevant.

    I’m a Mac – and I don’t like them either

It’s definately time to cancel ‘Family Guy.’ To Seth MacFarlene: The running jokes just aren’t funny anymore, and I’m sick and tired of having a pop culture reference every 5 seconds in an episode. Seth, no one cares if you think you know a lot about pop culture, or if you think that by putting down other celebrities will make viewers think you’re the best entertainer in the world. And some of those celebrities have won awards. Jealous much? And I’m also getting sick of your liberal preaching. I frankly just don’t care what your views are, and stop shoving them in my face. You’re such a hack!

    • UncleWalty

      spelling and grammar…look into it

    • kal

By shoving in your face you mean that YOU turn the tv on, change the channel to Family Guy, sit down and watch the show, right? If i don’t want to have a show shoved in my face I watch something else or read a book.

and obviously some people do care and laugh at Seth’s pop culture jokes.

    • iLikeLamp

I agree….once a huge family guy fan…now it is painful to watch….put aside your liberalism and make a funny cartoon…your politics stink but your show does not have to!

How convenient that the comment section for the ‘Deathly Lawyers’ article is shut down considering Entertainment Weekly is like Warner, a division of Time Warner. So taking my 5th into consideration all i can say is go pound sand. TW and JK are really full of themselves and can’t take the criticism that’s pending them. This is very Whitehouse not wanting Fox involded in news. Control the media much? Gee, the comment section works fine for Family Guy bashing.

  • Jamie

Oh hey, if you don’t like it, don’t watch it jerk
