British mope-pop star Morrissey (neé Stephen Patrick Morrissey) collapsed on stage in Swindon, England, tonight, according to the UK’s Guardian. Witnesses said that just after finishing his opening song, Morrissey fell to the floor and was helped offstage by band members. A spokesman for the Great Western hospital told the Guardian that “Morrissey is being reviewed by the medical staff and his condition is stable.” The singer has cancelled a string of concerts this year due to an “unspecified illness.”
UPDATE: BBC News reports Sunday that Morrissey had breathing difficulties onstage, and has been discharged after a “precautionary” overnight stay at a Swindon hospital.

I see the right wing British tabloids are still trying(and failing) to label him as a mope-pop star because he fails to write about how wonderful life is all the time and actually comments on the state of the world today. I seen him in Glasgow a few months ago and he gave a blistering performance but almost exhausted me just watching. For a guy 20 years my senior I’m not surprised the tour has taken it’s toll.
