According to the Hollywood Reporter, ABC is working with Biggest Loser executive producer J.D. Roth for a new reality show, tentatively titled Obese, in which extremely overweight individuals lose hundreds of pounds over the course of a full year. The net has ordered eight one-hour episodes, scheduled to air in 2011. “This is a unique story that hasn’t been told yet,” Roth told THR. “There’s something great and transformative when you take the game element out of it and just focus on one man or woman over the course of a year and there’s no prize at the end.”

Um “unique?” I’ve literally seen this type of show/documentary on so many times, from Oprah, to Dateline, to BBC America, to TLC, etc. etc.

I thought there was already a show out there in that type of genre. Very heart warming and affirmative. I believe it’s called Ruby.
I love these kind of shows. I’m always rooting for the person and I find myself on my exercise ball when the shows are on. It’s a real motivator.

Wow cool, Id love being on that show. lets show what life is really like though for us. It should be easier to get help for us people who feel left out with nowhere to go and no way out. I am one of those people and all i want is a chance to get out of my “Fat”
I am really interested in being a product of this show, my family and I all exceed 300lbs. I fell on my job in 2007 and have several problems, I have a drop foot and substanial back pain as well as arthritis. I know that if I loose the weight I would be able to enjoy much better, but not only me but my 17 yrs old daughter who is going to have major problems later on in life and my husband who suffers dearly with a tuckers belly and back pain. Is it possible for us to apply to be a part of this show, I pray so beacause we have tried so many different things. Please let us know we do desire to live healthy but need professional help.
