Update: The DVDs do not include a voucher. According to TV Shows on DVD, Fox reps say the Variety report of vouchers was “inaccurate.”
The Gleek frenzy has spurred Fox to plan a mid-season DVD release for Glee, Variety reports. 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment will release Glee Season One: Road to Sectionals on Dec. 29, including the show’s first 13 episodes. The full first-season DVD set with all the first season episodes will follow in mid-2010. Fans won’t be penalized for buying early — the Sectionals set will include a voucher toward the purchase of the full-season DVD release. The first release will also include a director’s cut of the pilot episode, behind-the-scenes features, cast audition videos and the show’s music performances.

really smart move on capitalizing on the GLEE frenzy.
i applaud FOX for this one moment of un-stupidty. it would’ve been a moment of intelligence but they earlier decided to shelf Dollhouse during the november sweeps
No way! I am super excited for this! I am going to have to buy myself a late Christmas gift…
i think this is a tactic for FOx to see wether the interest in GLEE will be enough to warrant a second season since the ratings havent been HUGE!!
Mario, you’re way off on that. Glee is a huge demo hit!!
Agreed Mad, way off there Mario. Any decision will be made later in the spring (and it would take a massive fail for that to not happen-and I don’t think S2 is an easy call), but figure that Glee was the first show to get a full 1st season pickup (from any network) What Fox knows is that this show has the ability to make money beyond the advertisers $$, with music downloads, cd’s and now the dvd, this show is a moneymaker…
clarification – I think that a second season is an easy certain call at this point with all the buzz the show is generating
plus I just heard that Madonna gave Glee rights to all of her music!!!
Thank you FOX!! A wonderful (yet a little belated) Christmas present for myself!! Definitely getting this – AND the full season DVD later on. Im a very proud Gleek right now!
That’s awesome! That’s on my birthday! Happy birthday to me!
As much as I enjoy the show, I will have to wait for the full season to be released and it better be on Blu-Ray!
As much as I am excited about this…I’m really worried that they’re gonna over-publicize Glee and that it’s going to, you know, burn out much faster that way, and I REALLY hope that’s not the case.
Yeah, I feel the same but hopefully Ryan Murphy is in charge. He did a great job with Nip/Tuck so let us keep the faith!
whats next half a movie on dvd thanks fox can have titanic part 1 and 2 next
Great idea! Go on, Fox and Mr Murphy, cash all the money you can, the show deserves it!
Go Glee!
What happened to the Glee recap? Is there no one employed at EW who watches this show and can write the recap? We don’t seem to get one every week.
I know…I was wanting my Glee-cap too!! I actually felt a little bad for Sue last night!!

we always get a recap, but it can be hard to find for some stupid reason
Awesome news!!! so excited
What a great Christmas holiday it wil be.,,,,,now my New Years Eve party is planned…..am having me a Glee screening party….AWESOME!
Glee is the best thing to happen to TV in a while. Keep it coming.
Awesome move for Fox! I see a Glee New Years Day Marathon in my future!!
GO FOX! Wait…did I just that? I didn’t know those words went together. And I think it means that NBC is now the stupidest network ever!
