Chris Messina will star in Universal’s horror-thriller film Devil, Variety reports. The film is based on an M. Night Shyamalan story (scripted by 30 Days of Night’s Brian Nelson) and will be directed by John Erick Dowdle and Drew Dowdle. Messina (Julie and Julia, Vicky Cristina Barcelona) will play a recently sober detective. The film, part of a slate of genre films called Night Chronicles, starts shooting in Toronto on Oct. 26.
