Ben Foster (3:10 to Yuma) and Donald Sutherland (Dirty Sexy Money) are set to join Jason Statham in the action pic The Mechanic, reports Variety. Foster’s character will be an apprentice of the hitman played by Statham. Sutherland will play Foster’s father. The film, directed by Simon West (Con Air) is expected to begin production soon in New Orleans.

Ughh, I love the original Mechanic, and would actually be in favor of a remake – but NOT with Statham. This is sucky news.
I’ll watch Ben Foster in just about anything.
