ABC’s Dancing with the Stars is set to honor Michael Jackson with a ballroom tribute on next Tuesday’s results show, EW has confirmed. The dance tribute will feature all the show’s professional dancers and longtime DWTS pro dancer Cheryl Burke will be one of the choreographers. Michael’s sister La Toya, who’s working as a DWTS correspondent for Access Hollywood was surprised and happy about the decision to honor her brother. “Here? You’re kidding! Oh that’s gonna be wonderful,” La Toya told the entertainment show. “I’m so excited. I can’t wait to see that. I’m really looking forward to that. That’s gonna be fabulous.”

Don’t worry I’m sure this will be the last tribute. All of the shows have done their tribute except for the Grammys. We may still see a tribute even in 2010.

Okay, why is it that they’ll let Dancing with the Stars and America’s Best Dance Crew do a Michael Jackson tribute week, but they wouldn’t let So You Think You Can Dance do one? I really would’ve loved to see one on SYTYCD.
I couldn’t agree more, Dee! Especially since basically all of the SYTYCD choreographers were Janet’s backup dancers for her tribute to MJ at the VMAs. What are they thinking?! Plus, the tribute DWTS did to Patrick Swayze a couple of weeks ago was absolutely atrocious…Cheryl messed up the lift for God sakes. The lift!

Hmmm – wonder if this has anything to do with the internet release of the new Jackson song – sounds fishy. Yes Randi – DWTS professional dancers doing to tribute to Patrick TOTALLY screwed up the ultimate dance scene/sequence – had none of the energy and passion of the movie version – hey DWTS pros – you all stink maybe that’s why you are on the show to begin with – cause you can’t compete with the REAL PROFESSIONALS ANYMORE.
how can this be true – more tributes – how about just getting “Stars” that are not D-listers or those looking for a way to get a job. Way to go ABC – make sure you ripoff the Jackson Family for your meager ratings ploy

Okay,first off this show is really becoming quite stupid,I don’t even care to watch it anymore. They really shouldn’t attempt to do this tribute to MJ because they will only mess it up in my opinion like they did with the Patrick Swayze one. Enough already with this kind of thing . No matter how similar people try to dance like him no one will shine through the way he did when he danced , he is irreplaceable.
Can we get a tribute–to anyone, not just Michael and Patrick–that doesn’t involve the dancers essentially re-doing the dances/videos made popular by that person? How about choreography inspired by their type of dancing? Or a show where all of the dances are to Michael’s music (without the dancing being endlessly derivative)? We don’t need more group dances with sparkly socks and zombie dances. I’m sure these *professionals* can come up with something more meaningful than that.

This is ridiculous. They pass over SYTYCD for DWTS? What could have been a mind-blowing dance tribute will now be a cheesy, ballroom-infused clunker…complete with sh*teous costumes, bad fake taning and repetitive and unispired choreography. All I know is they better use Jackson’s actual recordings and that awful DWTS band better not be anywhere near this tribute.
