ABC announced that Emmy-winning actor Jonathan Jackson will return to General Hospital on Tuesday, Oct. 27. Jackson, an audience favorite from his days playing Lucky, will reprise his role as the son of super-soap-couple Luke and Laura Spencer. His story line will involve a love triangle with his ex-wife Elizabeth and his brother, Nikolas. “We are very excited to welcome Jonathan back to Port Charles,” says executive producer Jill Farren Phelps. “His return will be sure to captivate the audience and be pivotal to this ongoing love story between some of the show’s most popular characters.”
In addition to GH, Jackson has appeared in such films as The Deep End of the Ocean, Tuck Everlasting, and on the TV series Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

I read this earlier on soap opera online and was pleasantly surprised! Love JJ but will miss and feel bad for Greg, whom I grew to love in JJ’s place!

Greg Vaughn was pretty much let go to bring back Jonathan Jackson from things said on Greg’s twitter. Excited for Jonathan’s return but feel bad for Greg.

I’m STOKED! He and Rebecca Herbst’s “Elizabeth” were what hooked me on GH as a teenager. But in recent years I had come to hate Lucky and Liz as a couple– so vanilla. But now with Johnathan back, watch out, Nikolas! I don’t know who I want to win in this duel now!
Sadly, Greg Vaughn, who now plays Lucky, and has for what, 5 years? will definitely be pushed aside for Jackson. I feel bad for him, soaps are a pretty cutthroat business. This also happened to Nikolas’ replacement when the original was talked into coming back.
I like Greg Vaughan as Lucky. Sorry to see him go.
This news is about 2 weeks old, but nevertheless…yes, Greg Vaughan was told on his last day of work that it was indeed his last day of work on GH.
This is the most exciting soap news ever!!! I loved him as Lucky and I still think of him as the one and only Lucky. Luke and him have such great father/son chemistry and the relationship with Liz was at its peak when Jonathan was in the role. Can’t wait!!
They treated the actor who’d been in the role the last 6 and 1/2 years pretty shabbily. Called him in, told him he’d already filmed his last scene.
hopefully he will go on to bigger and better things!

I am so happy that Jonathan is coming back. He has always been and always will be Lucky! I have been fast forwarding though all the scenes between Liz and Lucky, so boring. I can’t wait to see perfect chemistry between Luke and Lucky again. Thank you General Hospital!!!!
The producers on GH need to treat their cast better. Obviously, they can hire and fire whomever they wish, but doing it like this will make the actors’ group morale drop like a stone.
But anyway… J. Jackson is a HUGE consolation prize for Liz never getting to be with Jason.
I know! We so got ripped off by not getting Liz/Jason, but I’m totally not bitter about that because of JJ return. JJ’s Lucky & Liz were the only thing that was better than Liz & Jason.
I shouldn’t be so excited about a show I don’t watch anymore, but I LOVE Jonathan Jackson! He is and will always be Lucky in my eyes. I might have to start watching GH again!

Unfortunately I’m 100% positive Bob Guza and TPTB will ruin this, just as they have the return of Tamara Braun (she was abused, let’s call her a slut!), Natalia Livingston, and obvi Wil Shriner as Scotty and Genie Francis as the incomparable Laura. I really like Jackson as Lucky, but this writing/producing regime is not one that I would come back to!
I agree, Summer. And along the same Vaughan, who has played Lucky for at least 5 years and done a great job with the role, was treated really shamefully by the same PTB. It would be nice if soap producers would act with some class and treat their actors and audiences with more respect, but sadly, that won’t happen on GH while Guza’s in charge.
It’s sad that Greg got let go but I’m glad for Jonathan Jackson’s return. The character of Lucky has been watered down for the past few years. I know Jonathan will bring the character back to life !

television ratings are declining. tptb chose to bring in an Old favorite instead of promoting the gv’s lucky.
they could have givn gv lucky so many more honorable stories that those given.
tptb could have had gv lucky involved with dante undercover as dominic to bring sonny to justice or given him storlines with lulu and dominic. he could of had his own story with kate and both know ian jerry claudia hurt michael.

Thank God. Greg Vaughn was lucky he lasted as long as he did. Mediocre wannable actor.
The one and only summer I got hooked on GH was the Nikolas/Lucky OMG-we’re-bros-but-kinda-hate-each-other-plus-we-are-fighting-over-a-girl summer, which I loved. So I have a soft spot in my heart for Jonathan Jackson and haven’t watched a minute of it since he left. That said, I always thought he was adorable so I’m a little sad he’s going back to this and didn’t make it big in movies.
I’m going to find it very hard to take JJ seriously as Lucky. He still looks like a little boy and Lucky is anything but a boy.
I don’t think that the existing writers will do anything differently. They killed the character and even though Greg V. did his best with the material he was given, the writing to say the least was horrible. The writers never recaptured the essence of lucky spencer. I don’t care if they bring JJ, Greg Vaughan or the pillsbury dough boy if the writers are the same the outcome will be the same. Awful storylines, no depth, just character assassination. Poor JJ wonder if he’s been watching GH. If he has…he’s foolish to return.
Yeah Valarie may be right. I mena if they can’t write good matrerial for Anthony Geory and Tristan Rogers (probably the best soap opera best friend duo ever) there isn’t much hope for them giving JAckson anything worthy either.
As far as Greg Vaughnan he knew when he took the role that he was replacing a VERY popular actor in the character and that there was a possibility Jackson could return to the role and he should graciously step aside and return the role to the original portrayor who made the character popular in the first place. HE has enough experience to get another role on another soap. Or maybe GH could give him another role like they did Sarah Brown or ABC could put him on one of their other soaps.
Loved GV as Lucky and I saw them all. LOVED his work with Kelly Monaco JJ never did anything for as a kid and since he still looks like one, he’ll fit with Liz who I can’t stand.
Left the show with GV. The shabby way they treated the actor who played Lucky the longest was the end of GH for me.
Thank God Rick Hearst is back on B&B. At least they have writers who care about their actors.

I adore Rebecca’s Elizabeth Webber and have enjoyed watching her for 13 years. I’m looking forward to seeing if this supercouple can recapture their magic they of so many years ago with that said.
I just don’t like how Elizabeth is “written” with Lucky she’s watered down and isn’t given much to do other than play mommy its like she has three children instead of two. I’m very sorry of the tacky way they let Greg go but I’m not surprised how this regime handles things it turns a lot of fans off when they read these kinds of things.
Jonathan is married to a woman older than him so I think with his acting chops he can handle it its if ‘the writing will be there’ that’s the question and with their track record of failures because of the storylines they write for actors/characteres coming back. I’m skeptical they only write well for their chosen few the rest of the characters get crappy storylines….
I can’t wait to see how this plays out…I’ll tune in to check it out….
After two marriages and an engagement spanning over a decade of bad storylines for the most part I’d say these two are done. I like Elizabeth with Jason and many of her fans won’t be please with anything but a Jason Elizabeth Jake and Cam storyline written with a “positive focus”

Jury is still out as to whether or not this is good news, especially since he’s only suppose to be on for six months. What does this mean to the Lucky character should JJ decide not sign on for more episodes? Also, don’t really see why Elizabeth would get involved with a love triangle with either of them when her heart belongs to Jason!
He isn’t returning for just 6 months. He is in it for the long haul. He is moving his entire family to LA for this as interviews have reported. I am for one totally excited about this. Greg Vaughn was not a good actor, sure he was cute but he could never pull off the emotions of the real Lucky (JJ). Sorry LIASON fans, Lucky and Liz are BACK!!

Jonathan Jackson might have his boy like looks but he is a actor of maturity. If you know the history of Jonathan Jackson he is an actor beyond his age. He won like three emmys, you cannot say that about the seasoned actors. It is great seeing Jonathan Jackson back, he made the character of Lucky, over the years the character of Lucky has become so weak not a believable character. The only time the character was believable was with Jonathan. Thanks You G.H. you finally got it right. Now hopefully Lucky can tame he whore fiancee Liz LOL
As far as liz heart belongs to Jason, Liz goes from one man to another, Jasam forever, Jason belongs with sam Liz with the real Lucky
While I am sure he’s an excellent actor I regret them bringing in people when they make so little use of the actors they already have. I have no interest in seeing JJ come back with no offense to the actor, they brought S.J. Brown back and did not see the necessity for that nor do I believe it was that much of a boon to the show. I would love to see them make use of Monica, Tracy, Edward and the other actors. I don’t ever want to see a Liz and Lucky pairing either.
I am happy that he is returning to the show, he and Liz had great chemistry and I know that they will be great again but I have to say that Jason and Liz has the best chemistry.
