Jon Gosselin ordered to give back $180,000

Filed under: News and tagged: ,

Jon & Kate Plus Eight‘s Jon Gosselin has been ordered by a Pennsylvania judge to return $180,000 to a joint bank account he shares with his estranged wife, Kate Gosselin, according to People. The reality-show dad, 32, and his wife, 34, have been waging a war of words in the press in recent days over the whereabouts of a hefty amount of money that was said to be missing from a joint account that dated back to when they were still together. The $180,000 figure is part of the $232,000 that Kate claims Jon took from the account against their divorce arbitrator’s explicit orders. “The remaining sum of $55,000, which Ms. Gosselin used for household bills and expenses relating to the children, will be subject to further determination by the arbitrator at a later date,” Kate’s lawyer, Mark Momjian, said in a statement on Tuesday. “As difficult as this has been for me, I am pleased that the Court has ruled fairly on behalf of myself and my children,” said Kate Gosselin. “Now this matter has been ruled on, I look forward to returning to private arbitration, as we have agreed to do, to resolve any remaining issues.” If Jon Gosselin does not return the money by Oct. 26, he may face contempt charges.

Oh SNAP…guess Nancy Grace was right after all.

    • Quirky

When Nancy Grace becomes the voice of reason in your life, you know you’ve gone too far.

      • sarita

Nancy is over the top, but she always advocates for victims and children, so I’m glad she’s around!

  • AllieBoBallie

    Jon is such a d-bag.

  • karen D.

Yeah, Jon you better get washing cars cause thats alot of money to repay when you dont have a “real job”–and you quit TLC!!

  • MIke

These two dregs don’t deserve fame or their children.

  • Carole

YES, everything was always about the MONEY and FAME – does he really care about the family – NO – next up Kate – so how much money did you hide away honey – ALL the money should go to the kids – THEY WERE THE (gag) STARS of the (stupid) show – BAD PARENTS!!

  • John L

Please. Someone get these poor children off the air. This show has simply become about gain for adults, placed on the backs of children. I no longer care to even try and decide who is more at fault. Both these parents should know better than to place their children on TV for money.

    • Dylan

Um, I think it’s pretty obvious that Jon has shown his true character and just acted horrendously and embarrassingly these past few months. I disagree with Kate (AND Jon, no matter how much he’s whining about it now) documenting the kids’ lives on this stupid reality show, but unless we get concrete proof that the money they receive from TLC isn’t going to the kids and is just being used for Kate’s sake, I’m not going to jump to the conclusion that she’s a horrible person.

    • LadySolitaire

I agree. The show should have been taken off the air once the divorce was announced. It’s now about the parents’ feud, rather than about the kids. I wouldn’t be surprised if the eight children grow up to be materialistic and attention-starved people.

This has gone too far already. I think they are equally both to blame. So equally both to blame. Kate is definately not as innocent as she claims to be. Jon is only trying to get back on the good side of the press that Kate took away from him by crying and saying things like “i just want to take care of my kids” Oh yeah? Get off my tv then and do that.

    • Ashleigh

Well, stop acting like you think they’re both equally to blame when clearly your beef is with Kate.

  • Kaja in Montana

Wonderful world of excesses – can we just stop allowing them on the news and in our homes. Stop ‘buying’ into their fake world – and you thought Kate was a b@tch

    • Ashleigh

If Jon would just shut the eff up and stop stealing, that might actually happen.

      • hatekate

If kate wasnt so abusive and hatefull this never would have happened

      • NEver

Oh, c’mon. Jon was looking for someone to give his life purpose. Kate was more than happy to fill the void. The both created and perpetuated the abuse.

      • sarita

who cares if kate was a shrew of a wife? (shakespeare allusion intended). that doesn’t give jon the right to steal from his children.

      • Benes

Oh My goodness, STOP calliing it “abuse” people! Please, if you want to know about real abuse, including against men, google it.

  • Erik

Isn’t this the same money he claimed not to have taken? Might be time to sell those Ed Hardy shirts to make a little money, Jon.

  • Rush

How do they get $55k from $232k minus $180k? Kate can’t do math. $55,000 seems like a lot for “household bills and expenses relating to the children.”

    • Carole

      you forget – designer labels stuff costs $$$ – don’t see the B!itch as a WalMart shopper…..

  • Chris

Get them poor kids out of their!! Jon and Kate are really made for each other neither one cares about them kids, its all about the money to them!

  • Allie

glad that jon has to give the money back.

  • ema

The judge said both parties have to put back the money they took, so its not just Jon who is dipping into the till.

    • Just Me

No, you’re wrong. The judge said JON had to put money back and Kate just has to show an accounting of the money that she said was spent for household expenses. There’s a huge difference. She has to show where the money was spent and there may be nothing wrong with where it was spent, she just has to document and prove it. Jon on the other hand has been going on talk show after another saying he never took money. It seems the judge saw it a different way.

  • 1smartblonde

So, it sounds like they both lied. He actually took more than he claimed and she claimed he took $55k more that she actually stashed. THESE POOR KIDS! What will be left for them? They worked so hard for their parents to lead the good life.

    • RJ

the money was from Jon & Kate’s joint account. Kate has always stated there is a seperate account for the children’s tuition fund.

      • RJ

        *college tuition fund

  • Ann

These two are both using money for themselves. Nancy Grace saw right through Jon. Now if she got a hold of Kate she would shut her mouth up. Both of these people are using the money from their kids on everything else, but there kids. Kate has a better chance at winning because she has a better lawyer then Jon. All Jon’s lawyer wants to do is be on TV.
