Adam Lambert to perform at AMAs

Categories: News

Ryan Seacrest and Adam Lambert announced on Seacrest’s KIIS FM radio show this morning that the American Idol star is performing at the American Music Awards (AMAs), which will air on ABC Nov. 22. The singer will perform the first single from his as-yet-untitled upcoming debut album (due Nov. 24). The single has yet to be selected or released, but Lambert promised that it would be “glammy.” “We’re bringing back a glam-rock kinda feel to pop music,” Lambert told Seacrest.

Lambert also addressed rumors that he’d be touring with Lady Gaga, saying no offers had been made to him.

Ugh. High expectations much? Can’t wait to see him fail.

    • talkin’

and may you live happily ever after, also

      • YR

@talkin’: ha ha ha…good one! It’ll be like what he did with AI each week, exceed expectations and leave jaws droppin’!!

    • kaaketu

Why are you here wasting your time, if you do not like him? You fail!

      • Ernesto

Its not about personal dislike-get that, ok, its the fact that you guys who like adam were mind-washed by his superficial stage act. His make-up, leather-shining, special camera AND lighting treatment, bogus inapropiate bias/favored comments by Idols/tv guides show for adam. Give me a friggin break. Slash and others could not be honest honorably so if he only smoked three joints a day. He, and MOST hollywoodians are simply arrogant and tinsel minded. Allison was and is the best, a minority, both Latino AND female, and no supplemental support for her? Yeah, the entertainment business is fair. LOL!

    • Carly

And once again here come the pitter patter of little feet as Kris fans come running over to spread their ugly posts.

      • Jenny

Nope, not a fan of Kris Allen either. I don’t see either doing well.

      • James

Indeed! I for one am already over-saturated with Slezaks fawning over Kris I could barf. I don’t know why but something tells me that if Kris looked like Norman Gentle Slezak wouldn’t be giving him the time of day. Whatever. I don’t watch the AMA’s – in fact, I think they are so lame (sorry, but Michael Jackson being nominated for Artist of the Year? Pulease!!! He’s only released one song and it happens to be a rip off of Sa-Fire of all people. Cough-LAME-cough). But, I will watch to see what Adam does – I am sure he’ll be amazing.

    • Jane

Wow, what’s made you so bitter?

      • Ernesto Moreno

Tinsel-minded entertainment! WOW! Just bcause adam is gay, Hollywood throws their support(2012 AND singing at AMA). Real talent(Allison Iraheta)is discarded. She too, is a minority, but more talented. She gets no additional offers, but screechy-castrati-howling gay adam does? The arrogance of the delirious minded power of Hollywood.

      • terie

Allison is a kid and needs to finish school before she can devote her time to a career. Yeah, she’s good but there is no comparison to ADAM and she would tell you that herself. She learned a lot from ADAM on the Idol tour … before that she just had an exceptional voice. It is to her benefit that she isn’t being RUSHED into the limelight before she has had time to GROW UP. IMO

    • misty

      Aren’t you a sweetheart!

    • ICU

      I see you, bitter Krisbert!

    • Faye

HAHA just a bitter fan of another Idol contestant!

    • Chris

Harsh, but I can’t say I blame you entirely. All of this overdone buzz and insistance that he’s the best musician in the history of the world ever is frankly irritating. I, for one, wish the booked Allison Iraheta instead…

      • Helen

Well Chris there most be some truth to all this hype, it is not just the fans doing all of this. The media, alot of stars just love Adam, for a reason I am sure.

      • Chris

I can’t say all the hype has no support. But if I’m going to be completely honest (please don’t kill me Glambert fans), I find Adam’s voice to be shrieky, irritating, and frankly more than a little sharp at most times. He’s talented, but I wish he would leave the vocal theatrics to people who can pull them off…

      • Carly

why are Kris fans so bitter and jealous of Adam’s success? Don’t you know the show is over? You Kris fans constantly follow Adam articles and post all your jealous, bitter hate.

      • Matt

Chris, if you knew what you were talking about that would be one thing. Rob, the producer of 6 of Adam’s songs on his upcoming album has stated that Adam is the only singer he knows that can sing every chord on a guitar. Either you are tone deaf or you just don’t know real talent in a singer. He can and has and will again pull it off. If you didn’t like him I could see you saying that, but to remark he can pull off vocal theatrics, well you are so wrong it is not even funny. Get a clue dude.

      • Matt

I meant can’t, crap, proofread before pushing send. Dang it.

      • terie

Maybe TPTB don’t feel as if Allison is seasoned enough to pull off such a HUGE undertaking yet. Besides she’s still in school … give her a chance to grow up.

    • Pamela

Jenny you are obviously not a friend of sanity.

    • Suzanne

Jenny is an ass. Why so hateful of Adam. He’s the best thing in music for decades.

    • Helen

Jenny, you are a disgrace to the human race. Quit writing your nasty remarks and be gone with you!

    • jolie

Oh yeah, they book failing artists to perform at the AMA’s… they also use failing artists to sing soundtracks for major motion pictures. No Jenny, doesn’t look like he’ll be failing in this lifetime…. perhaps you had better find another way to release that negativity.

BTW, what are those Kris guys 30 something million fans from Arkansas doing these days??? I see they’re not purchasing cd’s… or perhaps they’ve jumped the fence!!!

      • Brian

What a ridiculous remark !!! Failing artists are picked to do soundtracks???????
Celine Dion was a failing artist when asked to sing “My Heart Will Go On”?
Springsteen was a failing artist when he did Streets Of Philadelphia for the Movie “Philadelphia”
And again, Springsteen was a failing artist when he did “Wrestler” for the Movie The Wrestler”????
        Unbelievably ridiculous remarks.

    • RR3

These “…” cannot wait to spill all their stupidity every time they get…don’t like it, walk away!!

    • chris

      Hey Jenny…. All is love!!!!

    • Ann

Hey Jenny, what’s wrong with you? Why you are so mean and full of hatred? You are pathetic.
Leave the kid alone, let him have a chance to prove himself and build a career. I would do the same for any new kids on the block who try to work toward fulfilling their dreams.

    • Brandi

Wow…harsh much Jenny. Why are you reading an article about someone you don’t like? Just wondering. I’ve always wondered why people do that.

Anyway, I personally wish Adam all the best and hopes(and expects)that he will become a worldwide superstar because he’s just that good.

    • melodies

If failure if your thing, go follow Kris Allen’s career. Instant gratification right there.

      • wm

melodies, I see you are back. You don’t sound any better then Jenny. Come on people… stop with the negative comments about both Adam and Kris. Honestly!

    • Jason

Wow! I feel sorry for you and your sad little mind. Regardless Adam will do great! I am so excited about his CD and his performance. The music video/trailer for 2012 with Adam singing will air before MJ’s “This is IT”. Another great moment for Adam which he so well deserves. Can’t wait!!

    • DD

@Jenny, nice try honey, go back where you came from!! Adam’s toenail has more character than you!

      • Matt

Stop giving this Jenny so much time. You are giving her what she wants. I for one will not give it. Well not anymore. :)

    • Sammie

Hey Jenny, I happen to agree with you. All these delusional people need to get off your case. This is a free country, so you write what you want, and tell the truth like you did. Adam sucks.

    • tj

Jenny and Sammy are the reason relatives shouldn’t sleep together, you two are Epic fail, why are you on a page wasting your time on someone you don’t like, wow, the epitome of STUPID< besides, you are minority and who cares for your ludicrous opinions, maybe you should try for the positive approach and support someone you do like.

    • ADH

That was a mean-spirited comment. Be careful what you wish for others — it may just happen to you.

    • sheba

Jenny, Dear< why are you so bitter and unhappy? Only people like you, meaning, unhappy poeple, would read about Adam's amazing sucsses and say something mean. Get a life. NOBODY, who is truly a fun of Adam's, will care about what you say. You know, deep deep indside that he is AMAZIN. Admit it and enjoy his amazing voice. If you relax, you might enjoy it and be thankful to him.

    • Pollyanna

Wow, why would you want to see anyone fail? Especially someone as nice and wonderful as Adam? Jenny, breathe in the good, breathe out the bitter, it’s not good for your health!

  • Adam has got it!!

Well Jenny you have just failed being a human being!! Go away you idiot!!!

  • Christina

That so stupid Jenny, he won’t fail, and furthermore, hes amazing and its also mean-spirited to say that you want him to fail! i, for one, cant WAIT to see adam lambert

  • Nicole

Yea!!! What a great opportunity. Can’t wait!! This is where Adam excells. I just want to hear this single NOW! lol

  • Chambers

Boo, why isn’t my comment posting?
Anyways, I can’t wait to see him and the other performers!

  • Lisa

What is it that makes this infinitesimal group of people want to be so ugly towards Adam? How anyone can find anything to criticize is beyond me. I feel sad that they will not open their ears, eyes and hearts to the beauty that the rest of us see, hear and feel. You are missing something wonderful!

    • talkin’

You are so right. As for what makes it ugly, I’d venture homophobia.

      • terie

Or maybe TROLLS looking to start FAN WARS or maybe BITTER fans with their SOUR GRAPES comments … and not necessarily Kris & Allison fans. IMO

  • kaaketu

I love the new “American Idol star”. Now need to mention runner up cause he is a star in the making! I can’t wait to see him perform at the AMA’s. Interesting that he is performing even though they do not even know what his single is yet! Only Adam can pull that off! All we have heard so far is the 2012 snippet and that is not even going to be on his album! I love it!!!!

  • Cindy

Jenny, why is it so important to you that a popular entertainer will “fail”?
Mr. Lambert has many fans and is quite talented.
I, for one, can’t wait to see him succeed!

  • maxie

Can’t wait. He’s going to be great and his album is going to be huge.

  • emy

What can of person are you? Is that how you live your life, full of bitterness. Holy Cow!!! Grow up!!!If you don’t have any thing good things to say just don’t post a comment.

  • Lindajean139

Can’t wait to see him perform. Adam knows how to perform and his vocal talent is second to none!

  • Jew

jenny, if seeing people fail is your idea of fun, just look into the mirror.

  • Michele

I’m so excited! Everyone in the music business is excited to work with Adam Lambert! He is amazingly talented and such a sweet guy, and he’s beautiful! Don’t forget to check out his epic “Time for Miracles” for the movie 2012!!!!

  • Stephanie

I cannot wait to see Adam perform at the AMAs! It’s going to be amazing.

  • gossip girl

GTFO Jenny, and may the Fierce be with you.

    • Helen

Wow you all are doing just what Jenny wanted, talking about her and her post. Don’t give the B a thought.

  • jacey

Just shows how huge the buzz is around Adam that he would be booked to perform at such a huge event before he has released a single original song. So excited for him!

  • RoRo

Oh Boy! Can’t wait to see his awesomeness perform on TV!

  • jen

oh my god, I cannot wait to see his performance. I’m sure it will be epic.

    Haters to the left.

  • Sally

I have no worries that Adam can meet high expectations. Just read the comments from songwriters and producers that have worked on his CD and can compare him to other professionals. They’re all raving about him and you can tell it’s genuine amaement, not hype. Jenny is going to have a rough year, but I get the feeling every year is probably rough on her.

  • Andrea

I am thrilled that Adam Lambert is getting so much notice and acceptance from the Hollywood community: he deserves it. Just about every writer/producer who has worked with him has been tweeting their amazement at his vocal range and ability. His live performance skills are not to be believed…he is even better in person. NY Michael, an industry insider, has mentioned numerous times in his blog how Adam is that kind of unique artist who only comes around once in a lifetime, and that he has a very high chance to experience huge success. This blogger goes on to say that numerous other media opportunities in film, TV and the like are currently being presented to Adam, and this will be made known to the public around the time of his album release. (http://nymichael.com/) So it appears that Adam is rightfully being recognized as a genuine talent by many industry insiders. It will be interesting to see what he makes of his opportunities. He is easily the most talented, charismatic, intelligent and interesting performer to ever come out of that cheesy American Idol show. His style may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but he has a huge fanbase which spans all ages. He was the main attraction who was selling the majority of tickets to the AI summer tour in this crappy economy. I wish Adam all the best as he goes out now into the real world. Adam, may the force be with you!

    • Matt

Andrea thank you for that. Well written, and well researched. You seem to know what you are talking about. Kudos to you.

    • Jan V.

Wow, Andrea — you really get him! Adam is just the most amazing, incredibly talented and gifted young man I’ve seen in many decades. He put a permanent grin on my face when he first exploded on to the AI stage earlier this year — and I have no desire to remove this grin. What a ride we’ve had so far, but we have just seen the very beginning of this rising star as he takes us along on his journey to becoming a WORLDWIDE SUPERSTAR! Lots of love to all the haters out there — looks like y’all need a big hug!

  • Amanda

OMG, WOW, I CAN’T WAIT TO SEE THIS!! HE LOOKED SO HOT AT THE AMA NOMINATION THING TODAY!!!

  • mefem

To Jenny, some people can only make themselves feel important by putting others down. Your attitude suggests that you are in need of some serious help. Until you receive the help you need, you are the only one here that will fail.

  • Mary

Let’s see Jenny, cover of Rolling Stone, announcing nominations and singing at the AMA Awards, Soundtrack of a major motion pictures, #1 for presales of an album on Amazon…shall I continue? I would say that failure is NOT an option. He’s already a huge success before a single is even released !!

    • Brandi

lol Don’t forget Covor of solo Entertainment Weekly before the compatition was even over, use of Mad World in the commercials for one of my favorite tv shows, and winning one out of the two Teen Choice Awards he was nominated for OVER KRIS!!! He’s got alot going for him. lol so excited.

      • Brandi

Whoops…lol i meant solo cover of EW. my bad. sorry about the spelling. one of these days I need to start reading over my comments. lol

      • jc

and also his “Time For Miracles” MUSIC VIDEO will debut before Michael Jackson’s “This Is It” movie worldwide for 2 weeks…Adam on big screen, surround sound, for the world to hear and see!!!

      • sheba

Brandi, What commercial? I heared that he was on Flash Forward. That wasn’t true.

      • terie

sheba: MAD WORLD was the background music for a couple of FLASH FORWARD promos but hasn’t been featured on the show up to now.

  • Lynn

Jenny Jenny Jenny!! Poor girl, dont mess with us Glamberts! You wont win……..

  • Josie

Even before his first single is announced…before his first album is released…he has managed to move beyond “American Idol”. He’s being treated as a star in his own right, not as a reality show wannabe. Being asked to perform on the AMAs is a huge honor, and the perfect platform to introduce him to an audience beyond AI…and he will ROCK IT.

  • mgb

I never watch boring awards show, but for Adam Lambert’s performance, I’ll make an exception. I hope iTunes is going to carry his album.

    • sheba

Us girls are having an Adam Party to watch the AMAs together. Kind like the guys are doing the Super ball Party. We are going to have a GLAMBERT PARTY. This is HUGE. He is sharing the same stage with J Lo and Alisia Keys. Unbelievble. I am counting the days to my party.

  • sizzlingsmile

I am soooo excited. I already highlighted the day on my calendar! Glam rock, ballad or classic rock, I don’t care what it is as long as I get to see this incredible man perform again. He can pull off anything and and ooze sex appeal no matter if he sits on a chair or shakes up the stage with his seductive dance moves…

  • KristenM

No one from AI, winner or otherwise, has received the kind of attention and special treatment that Adam is receiving. People here can post their negativity all they want but those in the music industry are fully aware of Adam’s immense talent. Those are the ones who matter, not the small-minded people who try to knock him down. Adam is about to embark on an amazing career that will garner him worlwide recognition. It’s too bad if you can’t be happy for him. However, his fans are elated!

    • Helen

That was perfect Kristen. You said it all. :)

    • Angel

      Amen, Kristen.
Those whose happiness is to see ADAM fail, I’m sorry you are in for a long miserable life. ADAM is a gift from GOD. If you are refusing to acknowledge, recognize or enjoy that gift, it’s epic failure of having joy in your life. We, ADAM fans are so full of JOY!

  • sizzlingsmile

I am so excited to see Adam perform on TV again. Definitely won’t miss it. Glam rock, ballad or classic rock, he can pull of anything and make us fall in love again!

    • terie

Judging from all his past performances that I have watched on youtube(and I have watched quite a multitude of them … not finished tho’) there is NO doubt in my mind that ANYTHING ADAM brings to the AMA’s will be SPECTACULAR … NO DOUBT!!!!

  • Michael

This is the smartest piece of PR for the new CD yet. Everything else before this was just crappy hype (esp. the God-awful 2012 song). In order to get the total Adam-vibe, you have to see him live. This will give those people who aren’t in Idolland from Jan. to May a chance to see that Adam is a talent who deserves to be successful.

    • Helen

If this is the same Micheal who previously wrote on the other board about Adam’s song from 2012, I can now understand what you were saying over there. It wasn’t that you didn’t like Adam, you didn’t like that song. Kudos to you on writing this remark. Happy to see something positive from you.

      Good Day Micheal.

      • Michael

I like Adam a lot. I just hated the song. After the Academy nominates Mary J’s song from Precious, any new songs recorded for The Nine, and any songs from animated movies, Adam most likely won’t be singing at the Oscars. I was surprised that people thought that I was Adam-bashing; my point was that move from Idol-land to the recording industry can be a scary one. He definitely has the fans and talent for success, but major success is going to depend on how those beyond Idol reacts to him.

      • crispy

Umm, Helen, that’s what all of us who don’t like the 2012 song were saying from the beginning! Love Adam. But that song is terrible commercial rock crap. Of course, none of you crazy Lambert fans can allow anyone to be objective. I for one can’t wait to hear this new ALBUM song, and I hope it’s as “glammy” as he’s promising.

      • Helen

Ummm Crispy well good for you. But I never read any of your comments much, but I did Micheal’s. But I did go over yours as well now Crispy and you are a very intelligent man. You seem to know alot about music, as does Micheal, maybe more people should listen to the both of you.

    • dave

I’m with you Michael and Crispy. Some of the Lambert fans are not able to handle the slightest bit of criticism towards Adam. They read one negative word and skip reading the rest of the post just so they can verbally attack the so-called “hater.”
I like Adam too. I think he’s great. But that song for 2012 is terrible. I’m excited to see him perform at the AMAs and glad it’s not the 2012 song.

      • DD

I love Time for Miracles!!!! Well, we obviously have different tastes for music. Can’t wait to hear a snippet of his first single!!!

      • terie

I LOVE “TIME FOR MIRACLES” also. ADAM does such a marvelous job and it showcases his VOCAL abilities as well. It’s a beautiful love song written by a woman dying of cancer. If you get a chance go to youtube and read the lyrics while you listen to ADAM singing them. They are full of emotion and pathos and I can’t listen to it without weeping. BTW I liked “NO BOUNDARIES” too. Guess I’m an old softie.
