David Letterman apology snags huge ratings

Tags:

Last night’s episode of David Letterman’s The Late Show on CBS scored a 4.2 Nielsen rating, a significant boost from its usual numbers and higher than anything rival network NBC had in prime time, according to the Associated Press. On Monday night’s program, a repentant Letterman served up jokes and contrition in equal doses, saving his most heart-felt apologies for his wife, Regina Lasko. Monday’s show was the first that the 62-year-old late-night host had taped since his admission on Thursday that he had had affairs with women on his staff and had been the victim of a $2 million blackmail threat.

Uh Oh! Looks like Conan is going to need to smash his head again to get back into this ratings war. Maybe Andy can hit him over the head with a baseball bat while on air.

i wish there was an article giving us an update on the late night talk show wars rankings. i haven’t seen much other than this and when conan & jimmy started.

NBC is really starting to tank on ALL fronts now, which certainly isn’t a bad thing and it’s what they rightfully deserve over at Nothing But Crap. Could care less about the comma haired Letterman.

  • Shamrock

Like they say, no such thing as bad publicity.

  • Andrew

I can’t believe people are watching this sleezy douchebag. What a horrible person. Also the morons in the audience – are you people clapping at his infidelity?

    • Shamrock

You win. I was wondering who would be the first righteous person to come in here and post. Congratulations.

Maybe if you’re really lucky, Dave will get booted and then Sarah Palin can take over the show! I’ll be you’re having a wet dream just thinking about that … perv.

        Make that “I’ll bet”

I hate Sarah Palin and I’m a Republican too.

    • Love Dave

I’m a huge Dave fan, and nothing about him is sleazy. This happened years ago, and the way he owned up to it was brave and honest and the least politician-method sleaze as possible.

Even if he did have affairs left and right (which he doesn’t), yes I would still watch. It’s like my president — I’m not watching because he’s not a sinner, I’m watching because he does a great JOB. You’re the moron. He’s a comedian, and a legend at that.

“are you people clapping at his infidelity?”

who was he unfaithful to? he wasn’t married, you are so ignorant.

Dave, why don’t you shut up already, and get a gag order on the other guy Lavonne Godec

    ABOUT TIME DAVIE SHALL RETIRE.

  • Lisa

As far as I can tell, this should be between Dave and Regina, not the entire world.

    • AnnSanDiego

I agree. Now, if we can convince the Palin-psychos…
