Paranormal Activity writer-director Oren Peli is gearing up for his next project. He will start shooting Area 51 next week, Variety confirms. The project, which uses a similar “found footage” structure, is about three teenagers curious to explore the infamous Area 51 in the Nevada desert. The film’s budget is $5 million, a big step up from the $11,000 shooting budget for cult horror hit Paranormal Activity, which Paramount will expand to 40 cities this weekend.
