Arrested Development creator Mitchell Hurwitz and co-executive producer James Vallely are writing a script for a film based on the cult TV comedy, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Rumors of a big-screen sequel have circulated since Arrested Development went off the air in 2006. Details of timing for the film remain unclear, as many of the show’s actors (Will Arnett, Jason Bateman, Michael Cera) have been working on other projects.

awesome news!!! i can hardly wait! this show was awesome! i miss the Bluths
Speech! Speech! Speech!
This news has made my day!! So brilliant writers of AD – COME ON (in a GOB voice)! Also one of my fave quotes to remind you guys what we have to look forward to!!!
George Sr.: [regarding Buster] Maybe it was the eleven months he spent in the womb. The doctor said there were claw marks on the walls of her uterus. But he was her “miracle baby.” And I — I was just too burnt out on raising you guys to care. So … he turned out a little soft, you know… a little doughy… I dunno. Maybe it was my fault. Maybe. Maybe I just ignored the guy. [the camera slow zooms out to show Buster sitting between Michael and George Sr.]
Buster: [After yawning for a long time] Wow. We’re just blowing through nap time, aren’t we?
ahhh who am I kidding – all the lines were brilliant!!! i am sooooooooo excited though!!!
Family Love Michael!
This is a huge relief. For so long it seemed Hurwitz actually sitting down and working on the damn thing was the only thing NOT lining up (especially since the whole cast seemed so gung ho about it), so, FINALLY, forward motion! Officially.
Gob: Let me ask you something. Is this a business decision, or is it personal? ‘Cause if it’s business I’ll go away happily. But if it’s personal, I’ll go away… but I won’t be happy.
Michael: It’s personal.
