John Travolta testifies at extortion trial
John Travolta took the stand Wednesday in a Nassau, Bahamas courtroom, describing how he tried to save the life of his 16-year-old son, Jett, who suffered from frequent seizures, the AP reports. The actor’s testimony came on day 3 of the trial of a paramedic and former Bahamian senator who are accused of trying to extort $25 million from him. Travolta explained that while vacationing in the Bahamas, on the morning of Jan. 2, he and wife Kelly Preston were awoken by a nanny who told them about their son’s condition, and while another caretaker performed chest compressions on Jett, Travolta administered breathing assistance. Jett died from a seizure later that day. During his testimony, Travolta also noted that Jett was autistic. The judge dismissed Travolta in the afternoon, but informed him that he would be needed later for additional testimony.
