Actress Lauren Bacall (The Mirror Has Two Faces), producer-executive John Calley (The Remains of the Day, The Da Vinci Code), producer-director Roger Corman (The Little Shop of Horrors), and cinematographer Gordon Willis (The Godfather franchise) have been named as recipients of honorary Oscars and will be recognized at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ inaugural Governors Awards event on Nov. 14 in LA, according to a release on the AMPAS’s website. Calley will receive the Irving G. Thalbergh Memorial Award, while Bacall, Corman, and Willis will be presented with honorary awards, which are known as honorary Oscars. For the first time, the honorary awards will be handed out at the November event and just acknowledged during the Oscar telecast, which is set for March 7.

Variety reports that Craig Ferguson close to signing a deal with CBS and Worldwide Pants to renew his Late Late Show contract through the 2011-2012 season. Meanwhile, Ferguson’s memoir American on Purpose: The Improbable Adventures of an Unlikely Patriot is out on Sept. 22.
Abigail Breslin, Elisabeth Shue join 'Janie Jones'
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Abigail Breslin, Elisabeth Shue and Alessandro Nivola have joined the cast of indie drama Janie Jones, alongside Frank Whaley, Brittany Snow, Peter Stormare and Joel David Moore. Breslin plays the titular Janie, who surprises a rock star (Nivola) with news that she is his daugther from a former groupie (Shue). David M. Rosenthal wrote and will direct the film, which starts shooting this week in Iowa.
Rainn Wilson, Ellen Page and Liv Tyler get 'Super'
Rainn Wilson, Ellen Page and Liv Tyler will star in comedy Super, according to Variety. James Gunn wrote and will direct the project, set to shoot starting in December. Wilson will play an average guy who takes on a would-be superhero alter ego, Crimson Bolt, after his wife falls for a drug dealer. The problem is that he doesn’t have any super powers, only a wrench.
Jeff Bridges in talks for Coen Brothers' remake of 'True Grit'
The Big Lebowski 2? Not quite, but “The Dude” Jeff Bridges is in talks to reunite with directors Joel and Ethan Coen for their upcoming remake of the 1969 Western True Grit, according to Variety. Bridges would play U.S. Marshal Rooster J. Cogburn, a role which earned John Wayne his only Academy Award. In the film, a 14-year-old girl hires Cogburn to track down the man who killed her father.
Josh Hartnett lines up for thriller 'Gunslinger'
Josh Hartnett has lined up for the lead role in “dystopian action-thriller” Gunslinger, set in post-apocalyptic America. He will play Sev, who sets out with his brother Jake to seek revenge for the murder of their parents. Chris Nahon (Blood: The Last Vampire) directs. “This story takes a unique and startling look at what might happen when the lawlessness of the Old West returns…but with better weapons,” said Mark Williams, who is producing with Albert Martinez Martin. Gunslinger is set to shoot in Canada in early 2010.
Will Smith and Charlize Theron to reteam on 'Hancock 2'
MTV.com reports that Will Smith and Charlize Theron are on board to reprise their roles in the sequel to Hancock, last year’s $628 million-grossing hit about a disgruntled superhero. Director Peter Berg will once again take the helm of the production, which is in the early stages of development.
