LA Candy, the first novel from The Hills‘ former star Lauren Conrad, is headed to the big screen. According to Variety, Temple Hill Entertainment (the company executive producing Twilight sequels New Moon and Eclipse) has acquired screen rights to the book. Conrad will executive produce the film. So, will this basically be “The Hills” on the silver screen? Hollywood really *has* run out of ideas…
Just what we need in this world, more Lauren Conrad productions, when there are many writers with far better materials, not getting the opportunities to bring their works to light.
They’re making a movie out of a book based on a scripted reality show? That’s so…odd.
I cannot believe that this is happening. First the abomination that was the entire Twilight series, and now this load of crap. I see editors and publishers are just in it for the cash cow, because there’s no way Lauren Conrad and Stephenie Meyer could’ve published otherwise.
This is disgusting to me.
I think there are a lot of things in the world that are more “disgusting” than a book getting turned into a movie, LOL.
Personally, I don’t believe in bashing things that other people enjoy/care about. Which is why I just don’t comment when ew.com writes tons of articles about Lost and True Blood.
But, to each his own.
well, when Stephenie Meyer was first published she was a complete unknown… so obviously it was for the cash
She may have been an unknown, but the writing and plot is atrocious. There was obviously no real editing done to it, or else simple mistakes, like Charlie eating cereal when Bella just mentioned making pancakes, would have been fixed. I smell laziness on all accounts.
It’ll be way too coincidental, trite and ironic if Lauren Conrad’s second book is about her character writing a book and having said book become a movie.
The book is about the behind the scenes of The show and her life in hollywood as a reality tv star.
LA Candy is not about The Hills. It’s fictional story inspired by the Lauren’s experiences working on The Hills so a movie is not going to just be a big screen version of The Hills.
Anyway.Good for her.
What??? You don’t even know these peoople.
boring
WOW! I certainly agree with the comment that there are talented writers in Hollywood (really the world in general) and Lauren Conrad gets a deal!
But you know what…I can’t hate. I like Lauren. And guess what, dont hate the player hate the game. Lauren is a lot smarter than you think! She took a little reality show and became a millionaire. If she handles her money right…she will never have to deal “real work” ever! Bravo!
wow dude lay off the drugs
I read the book – thought it was pretty good for young adults – but it wasn’t this good. Tooooo muuuuuuch.
Lol, ew. Calm down and remember that acid tabs are only a sometimes food.
wow… I guess a) anyone can “write” now a days and b) people think we’ll pay to see anything. I’m surprised that people will actually pay to get this “story” made into a movie
Ugh…
better writers deserve this kind of fame and accolades then Lauren Conrad and Stephenie Meyer.
