Zurich Film Festival to go ahead with Polanski tribute

Filed under: News and tagged:

According to the Zurich Film Festival’s homepage, though an award ceremony for director Roman Polanski has been postponed following his arrest in Switzerland, the festival will go ahead with their “A Tribute to…Roman Polanski” night for festival-goers. The site says the night will “be a special appraisal of his life’s work to give everyone, who would like to express their solidarity as well as their admiration a chance to share this feeling.” Polanski was on his way to the festival to pick up a life achievement award when he was taken into custody. A statement on the festival’s site reads: “We are shocked and unable to comprehend this situation, which has affected us deeply. At no time were we aware of the planned arrest of Roman Polanski.”

Life time award for ducking responsiblities for your action – sounds like a great award – can anyone apply for it – or does it have to be a fugitive from the law type…..

How can these people support a scumbag like Polanski? He’s an “artist” who made a couple of good movies, so now he’s exempt from the law? Disgusting.
