A&E's 'The Cleaner' canceled

Categories: News, Television

Looks like the second season of A&E’s The Cleaner will be its last. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the network has decided not to renew the series, which starred Benjamin Bratt as a interventionist. When it premiered in 2008, Cleaner had the distinction of being A&E’s first scripted series in more than six years.

    • Kim

I watched the show every time it came on. I use to be a drug addict. The show hit home with me. Wish it was back.

  • Ryan

I tried but it was horrible. Now I think Bratt is a superb actor but this show wasn’t up to par.

Did anybody watch him in E-Ring? Now that was a good show. Maybe they could bring that character back on a new show

i loved this show also and can’t believe this one great show is off the air and all these goofy sitcoms continue. i won’t be watching anymore a&e until the cleaner returns!!

  • Kathy

I loved this show. I thought it was very real, which is probably why it didn’t do well. Great job to the entire cast.

  • Sienna

I really liked this show. I can understand why people wouldn’t watch it, though. For the most part it was really depressing.

I watched the first couple of episodes of season 1 last year, but I found it too depressing and disturbing.I mean, obviously that’s realistic, but sometimes its nice to watch TV to escape, rather than be dragged through reality. I love Benjamin Bratt though, and I hope that he ends up on a great series at some point that people will watch.

  • Margaret

S1 was completely depressing. S2 was far superior. Strange that they cancelled it now.

  • Linda

Loved this show. Never missed an episode.

  • Kay

I agree Margaret S2 was much improved from S1 but I loved both seasons. Like Linda I never missed and episode. So sad!!

A&E is not the best place for a scripted series. “The Cleaner” will probably be picked up by one of the networks like ABC.

My husband and I watch it. Some episodes have been great and some not so much. I know it supposed to be inspirational, but is down right depressing at times. I love Benjamin Bratt though so I hope he finds another show. Maybe they’ll end it with him and his wife getting back together.

What a fabulous show! Those who didn’t watch really missed an amazing show! I will sorely miss it. It was the only time I tuned into A&E.

  • rob

loved this show thats terrible they cancel all the good ones

  • eva e

Why do the networks repeat each other.Every one of them grab a subject and beat you in the ground with it. Its supposed to be close to reality, but reality is better. LIE TO ME,THE MENTALIST,THE CLEANER,HAVE BEEN COPIED OF SORT FROM LAW AND ORDER. I DON’T EVEN START A NEW SHOW ANYMORE. HOW ABOUT SOMETHING ORIGINAL. SOMETHING DIFFERENT. I GUESS THIS IS ASKING TOO MUCH.

  • bahamas

WOW i taught they would of get cancel because the ratings were terrible this season.. i reallllly loved this show and i only watch because Ben was on it and i really loved it never missed an epo.. why not cancel those crappy reality that make no sense so sad
