The CW announced today that it was pulling The Beautiful Life starring Mischa Barton off the schedule and that production would cease immediately. The drama about New York models became the first cancellation of the 2009-10 season, no thanks to dismal ratings after two weeks. Last week’s episode lost roughly 60 percent of its America’s Next Top Model lead-in.

What does that mean for the timeslot. Will they bring out a mid season show like “Life UneXpected”? Or just fill the timeslot with reruns of other shows? Hmmm… I liked Beautiful Life; but it was boring…and I can see why people didn’t care for it.
I really liked this show
this means if smallville does not do well on fridays it has a home now yay!
Agreed, I fear for Smallville being in the Friday death slot…I would love if they moved it to this now open slot. Though I’d be sad if I had to choose between it and Glee.
at least you can watch CW shows online. and glee on hulu.
Bring back Reaper!
That’s exactly what I was thinking, that was a fun show, way to go CW.
Totally a good idea we need REAPER back!!!!!
HECK YES!
BRING BACK REAPER!!!!
BRING BACK REAPER!!!!
BRING BACK REAPER!!!!
It was the BEST show to ever grace CW and they never appreciated it!
The ironic thing is “Reaper” had slightly better ratings than some of CW’s current shows… bring that f**ker back…now. I loved that damn show.
amen sister….reaper was a wonderful show, or maybe even privileged, they cancelled a series that was on a cliffhanger, how dare they???
Hells yeah, Reaper RULED!!!
Yes, REAPER ruled!!!
I loved that show! They totally need to bring that back.
Yes! Reaper was awesome!
What happen to the days when a show had a least a month to try and build an audience. It’s in the toughest time slot against the ABC comedy block and SVU and Glee. They really should have placed it somewhere else if they wanted to give it a chance.
That is not the toughest time slot. If it could not survive wednesday with a strong (for CW) lead-in, then there it could not do better anywhere else. Wednesday is actually the least competitive day Monday to Thursday. The target demo will be out Friday and saturday so that would have killed the show faster. Monday – House, CBS comedy block, DWTS. Tuesday – NCIS, DWTS, biggest loser, hell’s kitchen. Thursday is actually the toughest. 9pm CSI, Greys, The office, Fringe.
What happened is the economy went down the crapper and TV studios are struggling big time. If a show doesn’t show promise to be a big hit right out of the gate, it’s a goner.
This has nothing to do with timeslot. Vampire Diaries and Supernatural are competing against the toughest time slots of the week and they still maintain signficantly larger audiences. Reruns of Will and Grace on Lifetime garner larger audiences than the Beautiful Life. The network would have been crazy not to cancel it.
After two episodes??? Wow, that’s a hot sh**!
I thing the series got potential so I guess it’s somewhat because of Mischa Barton who is not really reliable now.
But I gotta say the CW is always in a kind of rush, I don’t understand! They don’t really take the time to build a good tv series for at least a whole season! And they should stop losing money on posters ads and (not that)appealing teasers.
HONESTLY I DIDN’T THINK THE SHOW WAS GONNA LAST!!!! I DID WATCH IT IT WAS OK BUT COME ON LET’S BE HONEST, IT’S WASN’T MEANT TO LAST!!!! I MEAN WHAT ELSE WOULD THEY COME UP WITH??
Can’t say I’m surprised. I barely got through the first 15 minutes of the horrible pilot. I’m more sad that they greenlit this show over another season of Privileged.
Yep,cancelling ‘Privileged’was a terrible mistake. I think CW should revive it when ‘90210′ and/or ‘Melrose Place’ hits the skids.
I miss Priveleged!!!
LIke the smallville idea but I have one great suggestion: Reaper!!!!!!!
I think CW is screwed on Wednesday’s at 9:00 and here’s why: FOX has the 18-34 year old female market cornered with Glee. I think last week they had a 5 share in that demo? That really cuts into CW’s so-called lock on young women. In fact, it blows it out of the water.
I agree. It doesn’t matter what they put there Glee will kill it.
BRING BACK VERONICA MARS!!
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, FIND SOME WAY TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN!!! I WILL NEVER EVER BAD MOUTH CW AGAIN!!!!!!!!!
VERONICVA MARS WAS N WILL ALWAYS B THE BEST SHOW THEY EVER HADDDD
Hey, CW, why don’t you develop decent shows, and then maybe you won’t waste your money and our time.
Now there’s room for Body Politic!!!!!!
I want that show to happen too!!
As for this one: It wasn’t as bad as Melrose.
Nah, the CW’s not smart enough for that.
If CW can’t bring back Veronica Mars (which I know is never ever going to happen), I think they should bring Body Politic (I will take Jason Dohring any way I can). But Joanie is right, CW is not smart enough…
I was about to suggest Body Politic! But I have to third, the CW is run by a bunch of idiots.
Nah … they’ll just fill the timeslot with crappy reality tv. But I am not surprised this show is gone this early. It was not going to ever be a hit even by CW standards. I fully expected below 1 million total viewers next week.
Saw this coming from a mile away. The numbers were really bad, even by CW standards. Also, the show wasn’t good. Though I figured they would let it limp on a little longer before putting it out of its mercy.
