Oh Lord, we’ll never hear the end of this.
Maybe if more people come out and tell the truth, eventially so called fathers would be stopped.
I agree, lea. If ANYONE watched Mac on Oprah yesterday, they wouldn’t be so critical towards her. Narrow minds. They don’t get what this is all about.
I can vividly remember all the trouble Mackenzie created on the set of “One Day at a Time.” But that was 30 years ago, and half of Oprah’s audience wasn’t even born back then. It figures this story would find a whole new audience.
The whole country is buzzing how Mackenzie could be lying. So the BIG O is going to bring Chynna on to say that Mackenzie did tell her about the affair. Enough. Way to fill the airtime Oprah!
This is so typically Oprah. Perhaps she can get Chynna to perform an old Wilson Phillips hit and then have the camera zoom in on Oprah singing along but not really knowing the words. For all of her fame and fortune she is still a hayseed.
Right on and Hilarious!
A hayseed that overcame poverty and sexual molestation and has accomplished a great deal more in her life than you have.
OK, the singing along without knowing the words line is brilliant, Laura.
Oprah is a hayseed because she wouldn’t know the words to a Wilson-Phillips song? I’d say that probably gives her MORE credibility. Wilson-Phillips was awful…
sounds like she’s just pushing her book
Will Oprah have her on every week to remind us? I think that Oprah is really desperate for ratings–is she ready to retire yet?
It’s so ironic that all of this noise is about a woman who was a costar in a bad sitcom thirty years ago and a nearly forgotten pop star who everybody always knew was sleazy. The Mamas and the Papas were only successful because of Cass Elliot–her beautiful voice made his mundane songs soar. This woman needs to get professional help and the memory of her father needs to return to obscurity.
“…nearly forgotten pop star who everybody always knew was sleazy.” Really? How so?
His own autobiography.
That show was good and it was on the air for NINE YEARS!!
Granted, the show doesn’t really hold up, but I’d still take the worst season of ODAAT over ANY reality show. And how could you deny the brilliance of Schneider?
I just don’t understand the need to share this kind of stuff with the public. i mean, is some girl in the hinterlands going to see this and suddenly decide “well if MacKenzie Phillips can do this so can I?” I doubt it. The only things being helped here are Oprah’s ratings and Phillips’ book sales.
Boy, saw her face AGAIN on TV and just had to switch the channel.
Oprah winfrey needs to Retire. Its time for a new Talk show Host.I dont watch Oprah winfrey.
Unbelievable. Just unbelievable. I mean that in every which way. I still think she made it all up to get money for her old age – which she could’ve had if it weren’t for decades of drug abuse. Too bad nonfiction sells better than the novel she could’ve wrote instead.
“Sniff sniff” I think I smell another James Frey!
Keep sniffing.
for any of your negative comments from the ignorant people: Any person who has survived incest-consentual or not-the father is supposed to protect, not infect the child he helped create. This woman has been mentally corrupt because of what he taught her and how he treated her…She could have had a chance of normalcy had her famous dad not shot her up with drugs, kept the drugs out of sight and not continued to do them in front of the children, and not taken advantage of her inability to decline her dad of anything…don’t judge her because you have no idea what she has been thru or her idea what was normal at the time…I don’t care what her age was..until you have been thru it, you have no clue as to the tricks of the mind when a father makes it to be normal….no clue whatsoever.
You seem to be judging everyone but Mackenzie. Agreed. . . she needs help and therapy – we just don’t need to hear about it over and over again
So stop clicking on the articles then.
Good one D!
If there really is a H-e-l-l, all of you ruthless people on here will rot there! I wish I could give Mackenzie a hug and my support. I commend her for being strong enough to survive this for speaking out. I’m sure she has already helped someone out there.
I SO want to give Mac my support, too! If anyone hasn’t watched the FULL interview, then they should think twice before judging and sharing negative comments. I would LOVE to contact Mac, but have no idea how. I want to write to her. Any suggestions?
I want to give her my support, too. Come here, Mac. Sit on Daddy’s lap and let’s talk about the first thing that comes up…
Wendy,Condemning people to hell for their opinions is not very compassionate for these people you call sinners. Either have compassion, or don’t. Peace.
it’s not hypocritical to have compassion for people who are victimized and not to have compassion for cold-blooded judgementalists. Who says you have to have compassion for everyone? Idiot.
somebody please make this stop. please.
I can see why O had a follow up show, its for peopel to confirm or deny the allegations.
This has got me frazzled. Ive gone on the last two days and thinking all is ok and Im like,no something is wrong and then I try to think of what, and I think of this. This has polluted my mind. I cant imagine that poor girl growing up like that. The drugs, the freedom let along the sexual aspects.
I have one thing to say is…Where were the parents to Mackenzie? Not just biological Mom, but step Moms??? Ok, they didnt know about the sexual things, but the drugs..please!!! THey had to have known and this is a sad world and I feel so sorry for this young child growing up thinking this was normal behavior.Imagine all the childhood memories she missed??
Mackenzie, if you read this, please know that I feel for you. You can contact me at…hotmail.com.
May God bring peace on your soul, you are loved!!
BTW…to someone who commented about One Day at A Time…It was a GREAT show!!!
If you remember the film American Graffiti, the 1973 film that Mackensie was in, by that time her parents were well into drugs, free love and open lifestyles. They didn’t do a lot of parenting obviously. I see that so much, parents wanting to be friends with their kid instead of guidance and boundries. Kids want and need this.
What I thought was interesting was that Oprah read a statement by the daughter of the other man in the Mama & Papas, Denny. The daughter said her father Denny told her about John and Mac when it was going on. Mac said she needs both hands to count the number of people she told. So people knew, and yet nobody did anything. Sad.
