According to The Hollywood Reporter, director Justin Lin—who helmed Fast & Furious—is signing on to direct Summit’s remake of Highlander. The 1986 cult hit, which starred Sean Connery, followed a group of immortals who battled for domination in the modern world. This version will be an action film. Producer Neal Moritz has also signed on to the film, which is reportedly being written by Iron Man writers Art Marcum and Matt Hollaway.

Oh hooray, another remake. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
In the end, there can be only one…more sequel that does nothing to continue the Highlander storyline, right? Face it, there is no continual storyline other than ppl chopping heads off and living for hundreds of years. Even H2 was different than Highlander…Sean Connery magically was alive in the 2nd one after all. W/E, FAILlander will still be viewed by me. I watch ‘em all even if they make my hair go gray.
“This version will be an action film.”
As opposed to the original version, which was a romantic-comedy?
Okay this comment made me laugh!
A Highlander reboot can go either one of two ways, it could completely tank and ruin this cult classic or if they handle things right like they did with Star Trek, they could breathe life into this dead franchise. I will be hard to recreate this classic but I’ll reserve my judgement until I hear more.
Well said, Crispy.
With all the original material composting to mold in the studio slush piles, THIS is what they come up with? Another remake? Blerg.
This could be good. Highlander was the first PG-13 movie I ever saw and although I loved it as a kid, I watched it again a few years ago and was surprised at how bad the sword fight cheorgraphy actually was. Compared to later movies like Rob Roy, Gladiator, Crouching Tiger, Zatoichi etc. Highlander looks like two kids waving toy swords at each other.
I Remember the movie The Highlander back in 1986.Theres going to be a Remake?Really?wow. When does Production begin?
Write in a part for Peter Wingfield as Methos and I’ll at least make the effort to see an early matinée.
