Categories: News, Television

Bolstered by a funny, energetic Neil Patrick Harris as host, CBS’ airing of the 61st Primetime Emmy Awards improved on last year’s ratings by 1 million viewers. With 13.3 million eyes, Sunday’s show was the most-watched Emmys since the 2006 telecast.

of course it was – NPH rocked it!

Agreed. The Emmys are the bottom of the barrel for award shows because they repeatedly award the same shows. Only tuned in for Doogie!

    • BLINKONE

Screw the Emmys- send NPH to host the the butt awful Oscars. The man’s got class and wit.

They better ask him to host next year’s show today! He was amazing. I’ll admit that I have never watched HIMYM. I will now. NPH rules!

i laughed thru a lot of the show, and was glad I caught it. I normally dont watch award shows because they are kinda dull, boring and pompous. I loved Ricky Gervais, but the whole thing was pretty dang good…Way to go, NPH!

ok, i love NPH as much as anyone else but EW tone it down a notch u are starting to sound like Twilight fangirls talking about Robert Pattinson….

And it’s only going to get higher if we keep it the same. I say we bring back NPH.

Only turned it on for NPH. The awards go to the same shows and actors year after year and there are always such errors. Stopped wondering who would win or be nominated after the first season of Friday Night Lights had no nominees.

I watched because of Neil and to see what I predicted come true, all the while hoping that it would’nt, but it did.

      Which would be…?

nice – nobody did any Dougie jokes (course, maybe NPH maybe would have made some if he had won)

Yeah! Go NPH. I want to know Leno’s ratings now that he’s up against new episodes and not re-runs.

From Variety (I’ve been interested too)-

Jay Leno” (1.8/5 in 18-49, 5.7 million viewers overall) ran third among the broadcasters at 10 p.m., delivering roughly one-third of its premiere night rating one week earlier and posting its lowest scores to date.

Boo Swrewmmys snubbed Hugh Laurie again.

Still I re-watched NPH’s opening like ten times since.

I agree. If the favored shows (i.e. How I Met Your Mother) won, then more people would have tuned in. I almost turned it off when Neil Patrick Harris was snubbed. Personally, when the Amazing Race wins for the 7th time in a row, something is not right and it is no wonder that no body watches the Emmys. It is the first time I’ve watched the full telecast in years.
