Kathryn Joosten, better known to TV audiences as Desperate Housewives‘ Mrs. McCluskey, has lung cancer, People.com reports. The two-time Emmy winner received the diagnosis less than a week ago, a recurrence of the lung cancer she battled in 2001. “I’ve got a little hang up here,” she said of the battle she faces. “But we’re going to handle it and move forward. I’m doing great.” The 69-year-old, who also played Mrs. Landingham on The West Wing, says her treatment may disrupt shooting on the ABC series.

Oh gosh no. She is so great. I tune in for her–especially when she and Lily Tomlin are together.
Pray for her, poor thing, I hope she fights the battle and wins!
I’m a big fan of Kathryn Joosten, even back in the day when she guested on Buffy. Wishing her the best of luck and hoping for a healthy recovery…
I love her. She was also great on Scrubs. And I cried when her character on West Wing died.
Not Mrs. Landingham!
Oh no! She’s one great dame. Truly spectacular. I wish her luck on her battle.
Maybe this lady could try LOW DOSE NALTREXONE, It had helped me greatly with this disease….

I hope somebody will make her aware of LDN (low dose naltrexone) as there are many people alive today because of this cheap and safe drug, who were given up on by people using the traditional approach to cancer. I love my LDN and want other people to find it, too.

The moral to the story… She was a heavy smoker, until she was diagnosed with lung cancer in 1991. Six out of seven smokers who contract lung cancer are dead within five years. And smokers are 25 times more likely to contract lung cancer in the first place.
Hopefully, at least a few smokers will give these facts some thought. That way, Ms. Joosten’s battle will give other smokers the courage and resolve to quit.
Correction – She was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2001 – not 1991…
I am very sorry to hear this. My mother passed away from cancer (primary being lung) and I wish I knew now what I knew then about a very low cost effective therapy called Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN). The results are outstanding for people taking it with cancer, I do hope Ms Jooston looks into this and I wish her all the best.
It is unfortunate that many people put a stigma on those who get lung cancer, as though it is a disease to be ashamed of. Until this stigma is removed, this disease and its horrible effects will get the poor mans funding. Society is also now stigmatising fat people, people who eat fatty foods and get heart disease and clogged up arteries, where I ask you will it end?
I don’t know if I can handle Mrs. Landingham dying again! Maybe Jed will give one of his “SOB” to God speeches again to keep her alive! God bless you Kathryn!
She and Lily Tomlin are great… I would love to know two people like that.
This news is so sad ! I hope she knows about Low Dose Naltrexone. This drug can be of great benefit to her. I wish her all the best
